I've been happily downloading OV2 files to my Go500 for some years, but am now wondering about buying a new Renaut car. If I have the Carminat TomTom system with it, do I just remove the SD card to add new OV2 files to its map folder via my PC?
I've looked at your compatability chart but there is no mention of Renault's Carminat system that I can see.

Until we have a user with one the simple answer is 'we don't know!".
But if it shares the normal TomTom features and the map folder is accessible on the SD card then I would hope that the normal install procedure applies. _________________ Darren Griffin |

AFTER, of course, taking a full copy of the SD card for backup!!! _________________ Dennis

Just a short note to let you know that I have a carminat system in my Laguna Coupe, and have successfully added the camera database (TomTom OV2 consolidated by type) files to the system as described here by pocketgpsworld, namely putting the sd card into a reader on the PC/ Laptop and copying the files into the map folder. You do have to set the distance for each speed group warning individually, but that is a once only operation. Next time just drag and drop the new database files into the same map folder on the sd card and "overwrite" the existing ones. As a side note, I have discovered that pressing the "Mute" button twice quickly, disables the warnings when not using the sat nav in guide mode, and can be re-enabled by pressing the "Repeat" button once. Would like someone else to corroborate this or is it a fluke ? |

Yes, that's the normal installation procedure for TomTom devices and is the same for the Carminat. I can't confirm your Mute button result - my Carminat is the lesser model, with a remote control - I presume yours has the control console with joystick etc. _________________ Dennis
