|
|
Hi All,
Just purchased TT 720 and TT 920 having migrated from Garmin and hope someone can help me with this problem.
No computor voices are available in the "Change Voice" option on the unit. I have downloaded KATE (computor) from the TomTom site using "Home" and it indicates it has installed successfully, however still does not appear in the "Change Voice" option.
Looking into the unit I notice that "kate.tle" appears in the "Voices" folder, however the files (same size as appeared for the download) appear in a folder named "Loquendo TTS".
Not sure where to go from here. "Kate" is the only computor voice that shows it can be downloaded and is shown to be located on the device. All the others have in RED ... this item cannot be used with the current version of the TomTom application on your device..... (this I believe is the latest version which was downloaded when I first purchased the unit a couple of days ago).
The application version is 8.302 (9738/090225) OS:244890
Any suggestions where to go from here? I have considered deleting all voices from the unit and trying a clean install, however being a new user of the TomTom am somewhat nervous to try this.
By the way, there is exactly the same problem on the wife's GO 720. |

I have the 920 and I have several computer voices.
Have you made a complete backup of your unit using explorer (Not Home)
if not you should, before you doing anything else.
You could try a pin reset first but if that dosen't work you can try formating your unit and then reinstalling app 8.302 and putting your backed up map back on your unit then download all the computer voices you want from TT Home/voice/computervoices all should be fine then.
(If you format you may have to install the app a couple of times.
I formatied mine awhile back and when I connected to home I was offered an older verson of the app first. I installed it and then when restarting the unit and connecting back to home I was then offered the latest app.) |

If I reformat the drive on the GO 920, will "Home" automatically reinstall the application or do I have to do a download? If a download from where can this be found?
Many thanks for your assistance. |

First, make sure you've backed up the unit's contents on the pc. Use Explorer, not Home.
Then do the formatting.
Now, with the unit connected to the computer, start Home. it'll recognize that the operating system is missing and offer to download and install the application. Accept the dl and let it install. _________________ David |

I used FAT 32 and also the full format.
2-days now and all seems to be well.
BTW, prior to backing up the maps (Explorer) and formatting the unit I uninstalled HOME and reinstalled it from the disk that came with my wife's 720 - just as a last ditch hope that was the problem. It wasn't.
Will be doing the reformatting on the 720 tonight. _________________ Beer Is Proof That God Loves Us And Wants Us To Be Happy. |
