Can anyone help me, I have purchased a TTone V4 and would like to add computer voices on this. I have noticed that this option is greyed out on TOMTOM Home and no option is available it seems on the menu structure of the TT. Is there some other kind of third party software i can download as it appears the option is not available on TTHome. Or is it that this unit just isnt compatible to take this option.
thanks in advance. |

Welcome to the forum, some of the recently released TomTom XL devices (the wide screen units) have been supplied running the Text To Speech system.
This is only available to devices purchased with the TTS installed from new, you cannot retro fit the capability - Mike |

Thanks Mike for the quick responce. Wish I knew about this in advance, I thought both units were the same with the exception of screen size. i guess there is no way to change the pre installed software with that of the XL version without the great expense of purchasing a new unit. Never mind. thanks for the advice |

Be careful if you take it back for a swap... MOST of the widescreen XL models do not do text to speech either.
As far as I know, in the UK it is only a version of the XL exclusive to Comet that is TTS-capable. In the US they are more widely available.
Comet Version (currently out of stock). |
