About 3 weeks ago, I turned on my TTG720 and it would not detect any satellites even after about 10 minutes of travelling in UK.
Eventually after a reset (stick in the hole in the base), it did indeed lock
I connected it to my PC later that day and installed all the new updates including latest map and firmware.
then for about 1 week it seemd OK. then today it did the same thing again, i had to turn it on/off several times before it connected itself to any satellite signals, this is wide open areas, no trees, no tunnels etc etc.
Also, since updating it, I get no audible warning of speed cams, I cannot find where to turn on the audible warning, that feature was working perfectly before the update

Lock times can be MUCH longer if you are not stationary while it does it.

TomTom supplied Speed cams or PGPSW?
TomTom supplied ones are set up in TomTom (Plus) Services / Safety Cameras
PGPSW ones are set up in Change Preferences/ Manage POIs/ Warn when near POIs
