Nice review Darren.
I've already got COPL6 and looking to upgrade. Although not perfect Roger (TTS) does a nice job trying to speak road names that are non existent using Jane. He even has a go at speed camera types, but becomes a little garbled at times. But you soon get to know how to interpret what Roger says.
Can COPL7 speak road names without the TTS facility? For example, my old Medion satnav would tell me "take the next exit onto the A61", or "bear left onto the A421". Or, when coming off the motorway, "take the third exit onto the A14", etc.
Are road names spoken with the audio guidance given in COPL7?
Finally, in TT6, you tap anywhere on the upper section of the screen to bring up the main menu, and tap the bottom to get the volume control on screen. Is there anything similar in COPL7?
Thanks

Sadly not.

No, to access the menu you must tap the 'MENU' button. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks for that Darren.
That's a pity. I was hoping that ALK would have viewed inclusion of spoken road names and numbers as a safety option to augment the "driver safety" option already in the menu as a choice.
Listening to instructions instead of having to take your eyes off the road to look at the screen is preferable to the present situation, don't you think?
Provided you can trust the satnav you're using!

100% agree, Text To Speesh is one of those things you never thought you'd need until you had it. Let's hope ALK come through with the promised Text to Speech upgrade. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks again.
Do you know when ALK is likely to deliver?

lillyelse... Tapping the "distance to turn" indicator just above the "menu" button brings up the Volume control BTW!

Thanks for that noggin-the-nog, but I already knew that.
However, to do so is dangerous. To use this alternative to tapping anywhere in the bottom left area of the screen to bring up the volume control requires concentration and taking your eyes off the road. |
