|
|
Hi I recently bought a TomTom 520 online from Dixons but I can't get it to read from my 2GB SD card! I stored some mp3's and photos on there but the device doesn't acknowledge that there is an SD card in the slot. My assumption was that if you selcted media/juke box that any media content on the SD card would have been picked up! Is this a common problem or should I take it into a store?? |

The x20 devices seem to be fussy about which cards they'll recognise.

You are right in your assumption that the TomTom should automatically see the extra content on a card if one is present... BUT the music files need to be in a folder called "mp3" (no quotes) and the photos need to be in one called "photos", otherwise they won't be found.
There are folders with the same names on the internal memory too. |

Thanks Andy, I'll give that a try later on and see if it resolves the issue. I suppose it makes sense though as the internal memory has the specific folders already as you mentioned, so obviously the TT is set-up to read from only designated folder names.
Does anyone know if its also possible to play video content on the 520, and if so, how? Just an idea. |

You'll now be sorted if you hadn't done that so far.
For video... search "mobilnova".
Here's one mention of it. |

Thanks guys, I sorted the problem by creating folders like you mentioned, and also downloaded a trial of modilnova to try out the video playback. While not being DVD quality, I was surprised at how well the picture looked! Just need the full version now!
The only thing now is that I can't get rid of the music symbol on the screen when not playing any mp3's - how do I get rid of it?
Also what is the maximum size card that can be supported on the 520? |

I am running an 8GB SDHC card in my 720 which is working very well, I would expect the same card to work in the 520 - Mike |

This is a small bug on models running Navcore 7 "light" (you have to switch it off in the Jukebox's own preferences), but on a 520 you should have a full setup for "QuickMenu" in the "Change preferences" menus, where you can choose any of about a dozen items to put there.
Note that when you connect to Home and use the "virtual" on-scren TomTom, it messes your choices up and you have to reset them. |

Hi Mike. At the moment on my 720 I am using a Kingston 1GB card which is working ok for the mp3 file although audiobooks will still only work from the internal memory. I would like to have more memory available for mp3 selection and wondered if you could say which SDHC card it is that you are using.Thank you. |

That issue was fixed with v7.210 software for the Go520 and 720 - released on 6th Nov 2007. So long as the audiobooks are inside a folder called "audiobooks" on the card, it should now find them.
If you connect to Home (v2.1), v7.210 should be offered to you when you click on "update my Device" |

Hi,
am having similar problems with my SD cards, tried 2 and get the same result.
Weird thing is if I connect to my PC I can see the SD card through the 520 PC connection. 520 memory comes up as drive H and the SD card drive I so i know it's there and working.
But why doesn't the 520 read from it.
I tried the folders with no luck.
The other odd thing is that the 520 won't turn on with the memory cards inserted. On boot up it shows an icon with a red X on it and then shuts down. It will only fully start when I remove the card.
Any suggestions ? please.
Cheers, Blair |
