|
|
Hi all,
I have noticed a problem with the “volume linked to speed” option on my XL Europe whereby the ticked box for this facility isn’t retained after a power off and a few others have agreed.
I have now discovered that this option also disappears on occasions when actually driving a planned route. I thought it was my imagination at first but stopped and checked and found the box blank.
I have contacted TT support and to be fair they have been attentive but their latest reply is attached below. Has anyone else actually found this irritation and has anyone an answer or have they also contacted TT support?
Dear Jim Reaper,
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.
I have spoken to our 2nd level technicians and they do not currently have a fix for this. We now have two options:
1. You can send the device to our head office and have our technicians look at it to see if they can resolve it.
2. We can leave it be and you will have to change the setting everytime you turn on your device.
If you wish to go with option one please advise and we can proceed.
With Best Regards
The TomTom Customer Support Team |

Must admit I thought it was meant to be like that on my XL but after using my Dad`s One V2 that always remembers it`s setting |

Sorry to hear that - I was perhaps hoping that I had done something wrong when I used it but I share your result in that it made no difference.
I can't believe there are just two or three of us who use this feature so as you say we can only wait on some others to join us. |

Right, well TomTom said it was the firmware that was causing the problem and to reinstall it after a soft reset and guess what this didn`t work either. |

I was afraid to say earlier but I suspected this wouldn’t work. I felt this because TT support as good as admitted there was a problem and asked me to return the XL. From other posts I feel that this isn’t just a problem with mine so I haven’t returned it. Hopefully they will realise there is an update required if and when some others join us with our complaint. Come on guys, it can’t be just a few of us using (or trying to use) this feature. |

Did you upgrade to that? I upgraded but I`m pretty sure I tried the Link Volume when I bought it and it didn`t save it then. I will post the question on the filesaveas site and ask people to try it. |

My XL Europe came with this firmware but from the beginning I soon found out that the volume link feature didn't save when switched off.
I have also on more than one occasion noticed that it had defaulted to "unticked" in the volume link box while driving without the XL being turned off.
I had set it to tick when I switched on before the journey and noticed the change of volume during the journey |

TomTom have replied and say they are able to replicate the problem but have no answer at the moment, but it will be addressed in a future firmware. |

Thanks Lazysod - good to see that they have acknowledged a flaw and that it isn't just us two. |
