Does anybody have TTNav and Mapopolis installed and running OK on the same PPC?

I installed Mapopolis on my iPAQ 3970 on 27 January 2004. I went to use TTNav today (29 January 2004) for the first time since I installed Mapopolis and I got the following error:

Application TomTom Naviagtor.exe has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

Program: TomTom Naviagtor.exe
Exception: 0xc0000005
Address: 000b2c6c

I’ve not added anything since Mapopolis so I’m assuming (rightly or wrongly) that it’s the installation of Mapopolis that has caused my problem.

I’ve tried a couple of soft resets, but they haven’t fixed the problem.
Is it best to remove Mapopolis or to reinstall TTNav?
Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

I have both of them (and a few other programs) running on my machine (an 3970 as well) without any issues. Are you sure you have 2.06? The symptoms rather point to 2.09 ;-)

What _may_ have happened is that with installing Mapopolis into main memory you may have come under the critical limit of free memory for TomTom to run.

Try installing everything (TomTom application, TomTom voices, Mapopolis application) into the storage card (except for the TomTom GPS driver, that one is stubborn). Make sure your storage card is defragmented before you do that. You can simply cut and paste the stuff over, only the TomTom Voice files need a registry change.

And by the way, there's a SD card driver update available for the 3970 so there is no more need to stay on 2.00. Upgrade to 2.10 again and install the update, it is very stable.

Hi Lutz,

Thanks for your post. Wink

My signature of:

iPAQ 3970 (PPC2002 ROM 2.00 was 2.10), Lexar 256MB SD card.
TTNav 2.24 (361), GPS Driver 2.06, CheckPOInt 3.2.0.0

Was correct at the time of posting, as GPS 2.06 was the last GPS update that I downloaded. I didn’t get a chance to use 2.07 before 2.08 and 2.09 were quickly released onto the unsuspecting world! As 2.06 worked for me, I didn't want to try 2.08 or 2.09.

I spent several hours last night (29 January 2004) trying to install ROM 2.10 onto my iPAQ but it never worked so the SD card driver update is a bit academic at the moment. In the end I deleted all of the programs and did a hard reset. Sad

I re-installed TTNav2 from the CD and then 2.24 from the TomTom website. I obtained GPS 2.07 and CheckPOInt 2.0.2 from the Pocket GPS World website.

If there is a little ray of sunshine from this whole incident it’s the fact that I was able to “cleanly” downgrade from CheckPOInt 3.2.0.0 back to 2.0.2! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Wink

Regards,

Hi Lutz,

That'd be great if you could suggest anything. :D

The full details are in another thread, which can be found here.
