Hello all, im new, yesterday i bought a tom tom one new edition, v6.560, i have downloaded the camera database and followed these instructions.

http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras-tomtom-ov2.php

Am i right in thinking that these do not work as yet with my system, it says instructions coming soon for tomtom home.

When instructed to open map of uk and ireland i get an error saying windows cannot open this file.

Do i need another programm?, i continued anyway and copy and pasted the files into that location but they are not in my tomtom POI's.

Im in desperate need of home, i am likely the most clueless person on here when it comes to technology.

Thanks in advance.

The method described here does not use HOME to install the Camera Files. It is done using Windows Explorer.

The phrase to Open the Map Folder refers to opening the Folder to see what is inside. In this case if you Click the Map Folder in Windows Explorer it will show you all the Files contained in it, in the Window on the Right.

HOME can be downloaded from THIS Page.

If you follow those instructions you posted a link to VERY carefully, you should get it all working.
To repeat, you DON'T need "Home" to load the camera database, and you just need to put the files into the map FOLDER, where the map files live - you don't need to open any map FILES themselves.

Take it all slowly, and let us know how you get on. If you get stuck, tell us exactly where i nthe list of instructions.

And given you have already tried to open 'files' rather than 'folders' please ensure you have a full backup of your device.

Ok, ive done all that again, got everything downloaded properly, and copy and pasted into the correct file.

Everything is fine untill instruction 18, they arent in any of my POI categories, everything else is, i have garages, restaurants, police stations etc etc but nothing about cameras.

Grrrrr Sad

What did you actually Copy to the Map Folder?

Was it the Zip File? Was it a Folder containing the OV2 Files?

Are these categories you mention the TomTom built-in POIs?

Use Windows Explorer, and count the number of OV2 Files you can see in the Map Folder. What is the Name of the Folder where you see the OV2 Files?

Yes they are built in POI's, i have eleven .OV2 files in my 'map of uk and ireland' folder, but when i click start---my computer---tomtom home-- it opens up and there are loads of .OV2 files, some appear to be copies.

These are probably the TT Speed Camera Files.

#13 of the FAQs Page will show you how to remove them. ;)

Do you mean that i cant install the camera warnings from here untill i have deleted them?

And if they are the tomtom cameras, why can i not see them on my TT device?

If you have a Full Backup then I would delete the TT Camera Files. They are not 'seen' on the Device itself because they are a different type of OV2, and the Device knows about them.

I would remove ALL the OV2 Files and start again.

You didn't answer my other questions:

Have got them on now, thanks very much for you're patience and help, its much appreciated.

Couple more things while im here, is it possible to have the cameras displayed on the TT map all the time or do they only appear when im within my pre-set distance?

Will i be notified of camera location updates by email?

Can i report a camera through my TT or must it be done through the website?

Thumbs Up Do you know what you did to get it working? It might help others who are stuck. ;)

Much better to use the Warn When Near only as this uses less processor power.

dirtygaz wrote:

If you have asked for email notification. Better still use the RSS Link.

dirtygaz wrote:

Use the submissions page on the Website.

Next lesson involves using the Route Demo. It saves a lot of petrol. Smile
