I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find it.
I have just updated my Firmware, and it works OK, but, when I switch it off, first the yellow screen appears, then it appears to switch off, the screen goes blank and after a few seconds it starts up again. Resetting cures it until the next time.
I have seen that resetting factory options will cure this. However, I don't want to lose my stored itineraries so tried to copy and paste them onto my desktop. I got a message saying "Cannot copy xxx: the parameter is incorrect"
I don't want to restore the factory settings until I have my itineraries safe - what should I do?

Yes, resetting factory settings may well work (after you've done a backup) but have you tried the paperclip rest?

Yes, that works, but the problem recurs the next time I use it.
I'm happy to try the factory reset, but I want to save my itineraries first!

Well, I have solved the problem after a fashion.
I need TomTom for a journey later this week. I had taken a backup before installing the new version, so I tried to restore this. However, TomTom Home wouldn't do it - it started the backup process and then just stopped. I tried several times, with the same result each time.
Then I realised that the previous firmware upgrade I had installed in January was still showing in the panel. I clicked to install that, and when I received the warning that I was trying to install an older version I clicked that I wanted to continue. It installed 6.520 and it works fine - it turns off properly and seems just as it was before I downloaded the "upgrade" this afternoon. I think I shall leave well alone in future!

Hi,

I have read in the past that a corrupt SD card can be the cause of your problems. If you buy a second card you can play with upgrades on that rather than upset a working card.

With my wife's TT 1v3 - I have 3 cards

- the original which is tucked away very safely
- the working card
- a copy of the working card that I then use to upgrade

Every time there is an upgrade, should anything go wrong, I can always go back to a safe working version.

Regards
