|
|
Hello guys, sure you can help me with this one.
Understand that the favourites in tomtom 5 are saved in the file
Great_Britain_Plus-Map.cfg
Tomtom 6 new map is now on a folder called
GB_plus_major_roads_of_WE
But saving my old file as
GB_plus_major_roads_of_WE-map.cfg
did NOT work and do not see my favourites.
Any ideas? |

Only idea I have is that TTN6 has not been released in Europe yet... _________________ GO1005

Hiya TuurG,
Taking a quick look at your posting history and seeing that you're on the right side of the English channel, I can't help suspect you might be a person in the know! Can you shed any light on the issues that keep arising...
1. When will V6 be introduced? (TT need to get thier skates on - I'm miffed that as a loyal customer I'm looking likely to be one of the last to get V6!)
2. Is there going to be an upgrade program - or should I just go buy the product (my Nav 5 is 3 months old - not a great upgrade program if that's the case!).
As you can no doubt see, at least 50% of everyone's posting at this time has to be incorrect! _________________ iPhone 4/4S (iOS 5.1.1); TomTom Western Europe (1.10)/USA & Canada (1.10); CoPilot for iPhone (8), UK mapping, Mac OS 10.8/XP Pro/Win7; Tongue firmly in cheek! |

Pssst Xman - I think this is a reference to you seeking support here with something other than a legitimate install - you're going to struggle if that's the case.

Bedbug,
don't know the answers.
But TomTom would be crazy not to offer map updates to existing users.
Map updates are the main argument for buying an expensive digital navigation software.
Just don't expect a similar update as last year (low price, all maps on CD) _________________ GO1005

I was aware this version is not official. Reads TT6.000
My ipaq4700 is not in the compatibility list so wanted to test it myself and make sure it works before buying the new software/upgrade.
Do not see much difference to be honest but somehow likes nicer. The new map still has the same errors in a couple of places I checked.
So will reverse to my 5.21 where I have appart from my favourites, the traffic option ;) |

Gotcha!
Actually, I've 'evaluated' a lot of code in the past, resulting in purchased applications I wouldn't have otherwise bought - as soon as I use the code in a way that justifies the cost (and often couldn't have if I hadn't worked with it for some time before hand), I pay. My conscience is clear & I sleep good at night. :D
Someone (hint hint) should start a thread listing devices which have proven successful with clearly identified versions of Nav 6 - it's clear that TT aren't sure themselves at this time! _________________ iPhone 4/4S (iOS 5.1.1); TomTom Western Europe (1.10)/USA & Canada (1.10); CoPilot for iPhone (8), UK mapping, Mac OS 10.8/XP Pro/Win7; Tongue firmly in cheek! |

Or they are very sure! 8) I guess their tests are more thorough then checking that it starts and gets a fix. That's how they came up with the list. Only the devices that were available for the tests are confirmed to work (or not) and then included in the list.
With V5, devices were added to the list without the software being updated, just because additional tests showed that more devices were compatible. Other devices may work, but TomTom say they won't give support on those until they ahve confirmed themselves. _________________ GO1005

That's fair enough.... Though I've heard that TT have actually published 2 lists, with subtley differing devices, the content has changed, and of course people are finding that other devices are working with the code. _________________ iPhone 4/4S (iOS 5.1.1); TomTom Western Europe (1.10)/USA & Canada (1.10); CoPilot for iPhone (8), UK mapping, Mac OS 10.8/XP Pro/Win7; Tongue firmly in cheek! |

How are they going to be able to do that at the moment when TT have not yet released TTN6? It is not going to be released until "late September". The only information available would be from either Beta test versions (that may be different from final unit) or illegal downloads - again probably copies of those same Beta versions. _________________ Peter

Well, I did state the versions of Nav 6 should be clearly defined. At least we'd have some fact to work from - there's precious little of that here or from TT - hell they say one thing then turn around and immediately contradict themselves. I'm just suggesting that in lieu of useful support from TT, we get on and do it for ourselves (those who want to!) _________________ iPhone 4/4S (iOS 5.1.1); TomTom Western Europe (1.10)/USA & Canada (1.10); CoPilot for iPhone (8), UK mapping, Mac OS 10.8/XP Pro/Win7; Tongue firmly in cheek! |

Lots of people is "testing" TT6 but I think it would be more useful to provide feedback on the maps so they are more accurate.
It would be nice to have a place to report a map issues - something like the Speed Camera report page in this site. |
