you need TTN 5,21 I am not too sure if a new copy of TomTom will ship with this loaded but you can download it from the TomTom web site for free and install it. Mike |

Its the Pocket PC version you need for the Exec, you also need a Bluetooth GPS to work with Exec, you cannot use a cabled (wired) one with this device. Mike |

This will do fine in addition to your BT GPS unit you will need an SD card of the required capacity to install the map data to- the Exec works fine with upto 2GB of card (thats the largest I have tried to date) - Mike |

Have you put active sync on to the PC - the Exec will have come supplied with the application - without this your PC will not see the PDA/ Phone - Mike |

activesync is installed, as we've used it to install other products.
The TomTom installer just doesn't see the exec
I noticed on the packaging for tomtom that it doesn't mention the exec being compatible, but I suppose its difficult for them to note every model.
We definately bought the pocket pc version as suggested on this thread. |

Please re-read my OP in this thread - pay attention to the TTN5,21 - without this it will not load, you can download this from www.tomtom.com - the chances are the software on the CD's will not be fully upto date - Mike |

thanks for the reply. I've now watched the MD try and install it, and this timed it picked up the exec (typical, IT person watches user install software and it works fine !)
Thanks again for your help |

Just to advise, you are quite correct in saying it's a bit of both- the WM2005 operating system is capable of handling existing smartphone 2003 and PPC versions (I've tried both versions of Tom Tom on my MDA Vario and they both work). The main difference is that you don't get touch screen enabled software on the Smartphone versions- so, always aim for PPC versions of software on the XDA. |
