|
|
Hi, wonder if anyone can help/assist.
I had a Tomtom permanent docking kit fitted the other day, and to be frank, the audio from my phone (bluetooth) is terrible from the car stereo speakers. It is just a slight crackle ONLY, but the spoken directions etc from tomtom are perfect. Whilst it was being fitted we tried a different mobile phone in case this might have been the cause, but the result was the same. the fitter even tried a new docking kit, with a new control module in case this was at fault, but again - same result.
So I am wondering if anything people might have found out here may be able to help me get this right. The tom tom is the GO700 and the docking kit is the original tomtom version.
any help appreciated please (i am desperate) |

I din't think the phone sound was played over the car stereo?
It only mutes the radio.
Only voice instructions go over the car radio speakers
Your phone sound still comes from the back of the GO. Did you change the volume for that. You can do that while you receive a phone call, and then press the bottom left corner. The volume slider now is for phone sound, not for voice directions |

.. thanks... that "kind of" makes sense, and I guess the spoken instructions is what its all about.. weird how the phone call volume 'breaks through' onto the car stereo though, and has an awful crackle to it ONLY
U said . "Did you change the volume for that. You can do that while you receive a phone call, and then press the bottom left corner. The volume slider now is for phone sound, not for voice directions"
1> What do you mean by did I change the volume for that?
2> are you saying, once I make a call and the phone is connected, or once I receive a call and it is connected - If I tap the bottom left of the TT screen it will change the PHONE CALL volume only, and not have an effect on the Voice instructions ONCE the call has ended ?? |

In normal navigation mode, the volume slider that pops up at the bottom is for voice instructions. During a phone call it's the phone speaker volume. It should not have effect on the voice instruction volume (after you hang up)
Maybe in your case the phone volume is so low, that you don't really hear the speaker, and only the crackling sound of the muted speakers. By turning up the phone volume you will not hear the crackling sound anymore. |

I have found exactly the same thing after installing the docking kit today. Great sound for directions, horrid distorted sound for phone calls (albeit v low volume). Very strange. _________________ 1970 Mercedes W113 280SL

My only (vain?) hope is that using an external microphone might 'unlock' the sound from the speakers in case there is some kind of built-in feedback supppression going on. Doubt it though... _________________ 1970 Mercedes W113 280SL

makes no difference using an external microphone, and.. AND !! if anything the pick up from the microphone is lower than that of the TT unit, not very good at all, people I speak to now say.. "wow you're quiet"
and before.. it wasnt that bad !!
SO that won't help...
anyone else got any ideas? (would be nice if someone from TOMTOM came on here and helped !! |

Disappointed to hear the mike doesn't make any difference. Just out of interest, what microphone did you use? And what kind of plug did it have on the end? The socket on the TomTom platform is placed so tightly to the edge, that any 3.5mm jack plugs I have been able to find can't plug in because their casing is too 'fat'. _________________ 1970 Mercedes W113 280SL

So - anyone know whether it is possible to get phone audio routed through the car stereo speakers using the permanent docking kit? Seems a bit bizarre that it doesn't do this by design... |
