Forum member barryd has released version 2.1.0 of his OSGPS converter which now offers a way to enter the coordinates of a new location into the Destinator application directly from the PocketPC (i.e. without having to import from a PC using the Destinator Console).

Worldwide co-ordinates can be entered in WGS format. UK and Ireland co-ordinates can also be entered in OS formats.

OSGPS is useful in finding your way to places where the postcode and address information within Destinator is insufficient to precisely identify a location.

FAQs

How does OSGPS work with Destinator.
After entering your coordinates into the OSGPS utility and tapping “Convert”, when you then tap the “Destinator Favorite” button, OSGPS places one Item with those coordinates in the Destinator Favourites Category OSGPS. This Item has the WGS coordinates as its Name and the BNG (or ING) coordinates as its description. After the “Destinator Favorite” button has been tapped, the OSGPS utility will close, bringing the Destinator window to the foreground if Destinator is running.

How do I use Destinator following OSGPS input.
From with the Destinator application it is possible to Navigate to the Item created by OSGPS, to Show the Item location on a map, or to Edit the Item. To do this first select Destinate/Favorites/OSGPS/Item then tap the Navigate or the Tools button.

Using Tools/Edit it is possible to rename the Item and save it under a different Category within Favorites.

Typically you might replace the WGS coordinates in the Name field with the memorable name by which you will recall the location. The WGS coordinates are always available should you need them by tapping “i” for Information.

OSGPS overwrites the OSGPS.dat file each time the OSGPS “Destinator Favorite” button is tapped. Thus any Items previously placed in the OSGPS Category will be lost. For this reason you will need to save any Item in the OSGPS Category to a different Category if you want to keep it.

You will need to close the Destinator Favorites screen and re-open it to see any new information placed by OSGPS.
