Hi
I was just wondering how you get the speed camera icons to come up when you approach a speed camera. Also, how do you know the speed limit for the camera you're approaching? All i'm getting is the distance from the camera?!
Being very new to this any info would be much appreciated.

Hi Gooner4_1998,
to the forum!
What version of TomTom Navigator have you got?
Is it version 2.xx, 3.xx, or 4.xx (TomTom HP Navigator 2004 that came with an iPAQ 1710)?
I presume that you’re using the PocketGPSWorld camera database and that you’ve loaded both the database (.OV2) files and the icon (.BMP) files. Have a read of the beginner’s guide for further information.

I use GPSAssist 2, which displays the icon, the distance, the individual site id, and the POI/database name. However GPSAssist is not free and will not work with TomTom Navigator 5, so you are better off with CheckPOInt.
CheckPOInt 3.xx displays the icon and distance although we have found that it is harder to capture new locations for our database, so we recommend the use of CheckPOInt 2.0.2 with our database. Unfortunately CheckPOInt 2.0.2 doesn’t display the icon.

If you use our speed-zoned database, which is split into speed limits, you can then use different .WAV files for warnings and also look on the screen for the icon.
