Mine does that too - I assumed that was normal behaviour because I saw a discussion somewhere on how to hack the Registry to stop the BT Manager from popping up each time.
I also see a big ? on the Fortune icon.
I have been using my Fortuna in the above way for the past few months and not thougth anything of it.
And no, I cant remember where I saw the registry hack - sorry. |

While stopping/starting for GPS use, follow sequence.
- Close tom-tom navigator and make sure gps viewer is also closed.
- Turn off clip on.
while starting use again,
- Switch on clip on first
- Start tomtom.
This will remind tomtom last use of clip on to be good. Else, for tomtom it lost connection and so, BT comm woth clip on is disabled.
Does it make sense?

In Windows Mobile 2003 you can change the default BT settings. Don't know what version of Windows you have (or even if you have Windows).
Anyway, on my PDA I start the BT settings dialog. Select the "Services" tab and select the "Serial Port" service. In "Advanced..." there's a checkbox which allows you to toggle whether an outgoing connection uses the default serial port, or prompts to select a device.
I leave mine set to prompt, as I find this is the only way to re-establish the connection after a powering the PDA off then on. If I have it set to prompt then when I turn the PDA back on I get a new prompt and TT will reconnect to the GPS. If I leave it set to use the default then no new connection is established and I have to go to the gps status screen, GPS tab and select the checkbox to re-start the connection. And this quite often hangs the BT interface requiring a reset, which in turn requires re-entering the route... |

The behaviour you're describing, nigelw, that allows you to set a default serial port device is that of the new Broadcom (nee Widcomm) 1.5.0 Bluetooth stack, as found in the WM2003SE iPAQs, and the 6300 series iPAQ phones.
Such a feature is not present in the Widcomm 1.4.x Bluetooth stack used in the older WM2003 iPAQs.
I am surprised you're getting the hang ups. I find that all I have to do is turn on Bluetooth (I usually leave it off to save battery power), switch on my Clip On and start TomTom Navigator on my iPAQ hx4700. It connects and runs just fine.
