It looks like a lame question but i need to know if TomTom Go works fine ( without the need of any additional antenna! ) in this car!
I bought in the past a palm computer + tom tom navigator 2.0.
I never really used it! Too many wires ( and the connection between my palm and the gps was bluetooth ) and my car looked too messy with this combo inside.
Tomtom go seems much more user friendly but i need to know if it works on my car!
Thanx |

The windshield on the Porsches is pretty flat (good for reception), and as far as I know is not tinted (no metallic coating).
You may run into problems with the suction mount, though - it is not very suitable for highly curved windshields. Best would be to use another mount (Brodit recently introduced a dash mount). _________________ Lutz

I have no problems using Tomtom Go in my Boxster. As I understand it the windscreens are of a similar constrution so you should be fine. |

Works fine in my TVR Cerbera, and that's got a windscreen like a letterbox. OTOH, the rest of it is made of plastic... ;) |

What's the problem here? I compared to my car which, although not a Porker, shares some traits, namely:
a) pretty quick (can travel a long distance between screen updates!)
b) steeply raked windscreen
c) very curved windscreen
In fact, IME cars with steeply rakesd windscreens give better satellite coverage. Only trouble you're likely to encounter is that when mounted at the bottom of the screen so it can rest on the dash, the GO is actually too far away to touch the screen without leaning forward |

This link is on an adjacent thread right now, but this was the same problem for me. not only too far away, but in too much light and would have gotten cooked.
I 'thought' i'd got the ideal position attached to the underside of my carbon roof panel (a quite literally cooler alternative to the factory glass), but this required it to be at an odd angle for me too see it and thus giving an offset field of view due to the TTG not pointing forward.
Heres what i did:

The 100% main reason i got the GO rather than the PDA, was the fact everything was built in and it limited clutter (which ruins interiors that are otherwise free of it). Check out the 'in line' cigar socket i've installed to allow my TTG to be hardwired in 8) |
