OK, I downloaded the version, putit onto my desktop etc etc, went to install it and it said Card was full, so I when into the card via my desktop and cut everything, thinking I could add the important bits on later, but now my Tom Tom GO has frozen on, I cannot view it from my desktop, and cannot turn it off either.
i just installed the tomtom v5 update 8) the route planning seems to be excellent,i gave it a destination where i knew there a few shortcuts and it found them by shortest route..it used to take me round on main roads the longer way not no more!!!!!
the route demo is brilliant too 8) shows you the way to go in DEMO mode!!
i haven't tried the other features yet ! i'll give it a good test tommorow whilst i'm driving around

Fantastic upgrade - indeed that Demo route function is just quality.
Everything is working fine EXCEPT...
FULL 7-DIGIT POSTCODE SUPPORT!
Arghh! The main thing we've all been waiting for as well!
For some reason, whenever I enter a postcode in the 'Postcode' section, it only accepts the standard 4-digit code. I don't get an option for a GB or a NI map, and nothing to suggest that there is a full postcode support on this upgrade.
Other than that, all the new functions are fantastic!
Seven digit postcode support is only available with the new maps. I guess that these maps will be standard on the 300/500/700 units, but are chargeable for existing GO owners.
I read it this morning in the support section of the TomTom website!!

I downloaded and installed this whereupon my TTG told me that my maps had
not yet been activated - but it would not accept my old activation codes.
I rechecked with the TT web site that the old activation codes for my
device code and those product codes was still the same and indeed there
had been no changes. So I reverted to 4.42 and all is working yet again.
Has anyone managed to install 5.00 with working maps?

Downloaded and installed, seemless, got the map activation request and once presented my product code etc was abe to activate map and it all works fine bar the full poscode facility.

Well, I've given v5 software a good tonking over the last few days.
Grove (Oxon) -> Cardiff University on Monday : Fastest Route - No Probs.
Grove -> Calton-In-Lindrick (Notts) on Tuesday : Fastest - No Probs.
Grove -> Cranfield University on Wednesday : Shortest Route - Excellent Roads and most entertaining driving through the leafy if somewhat sterile suberbs of Milton Keynes. Again no probs and no doubting it WAS the shortest route.
I must admit I'm glad to see a company that actually takes customer feedback and acts on it - I've been looking forward to the Upgrade ever since talking to the guys on the stand at CeBit.
The new units look interesting - especially the Tom Tom Rider for all us bikers ! _________________ --

Guys ive got the same message on mine today, can someone give me the idiots guide as im not very good, just says card full
How do i clear the card ?
If V5 dont work do i just install from disc ?
thanks any help mucho apreciated

If you have the original 128MB SD Card delete all unnecessary voices from the card and this should allow you to install. Unless your card is filled with extra POI's. _________________ Richard

I had a similar problem. I upgraded with no power and without prior backup (yes a fool rushing in). TTG froze and i had to use the reset button to turn it off
Fortunately i could put the SD card into a card reader, copy the files to my pc, re-format the card in the card reader, copy the files back to the card from my pc, put the card back into TTG, turn on TTG and after a few nervous seconds TTG was alive with 5!

Tom,
Use the original CD disc which came with the TTG and use that to remove unwanted voices. They have to be done one at a time and release approx 0.5mb each.
They can be re-loaded at a future date if you feel the need to learn Serbo-Croat.
