|
|
For those of you who want to use the latest Speed Related Pocketgps camera database files. This is how I have them setup on my XDA2 with TomTom v3.07 and CheckPOInt v2.0.2
The .ov2 and .bmp files are copied over to:-
Storage Card\Great_Britain Navigator Map
pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.bmp
pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.bmp
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_40.bmp
pocketgps_uk_gatso_40.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_50.bmp
pocketgps_uk_gatso_50.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_60.bmp
pocketgps_uk_gatso_60.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_70.bmp
pocketgps_uk_gatso_70.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_TBA.bmp
pocketgps_uk_gatso_TBA.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile_30.bmp
pocketgps_uk_mobile_30.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile_40.bmp
pocketgps_uk_mobile_40.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile_50,bmp
pocketgps_uk_mobile_50.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile_60.bmp
pocketgps_uk_mobile_60.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile_70,bmp
pocketgps_uk_mobile_70.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile_TBA.bmp
pocketgps_uk_mobile_TBA.ov2
pocketgps_uk_redlight.bmp
pocketgps_uk_redlight.ov2
pocketgps_uk_specs.bmp
pocketgps_uk_specs.ov2
pocketgps_uk_temp.bmp
pocketgps_uk_temp.ov2
The .wav files to give the voice announcements are copied over to:-
Program Files\CheckPOInt
0004_mobil_f.wav
0005_specs_f.wav
a_temp.wav
approach_gatso.wav
Approaching Speed Limit.wav
cam10secs.wav
cam20limit.wav
cam30limit.wav
cam30secs.wav
cam40limit.wav
cam50limit.wav
cam60limit.wav
cam70limit.wav
cammobile.wav
camredlight.wav
Redlight camera 10 secs.wav
Redlight camera 30 secs.wav
warn_gatso.wav
These are the .wav files I'm using although I have sent Richard aka Oldie a Sounds.zip file containing 53 various .wav files. Hopefully Richard will be able to put them in the files download area for others to use.
TomTom Setup
Start TomTom, tap on screen and go to Proprties. At the bottom of the screen tap on POI. Tick box Show Points of Interest. Using the slider bar on the right scroll down until you come to the first pocketgps_uk_gatso 20 file and tick the box, repeat for all the files you want to use. I have them all ticked. Tap on OK to go back to TomTom front screen.
If you use CheckPOInt to start TomTom as I do you will you will see it's Icon at the bottom right of the screen.
CheckPOInt Setup
Tap on CheckPOInt icon then General Setting
If you want CheckPOInt to start TomTom and end when TomTom is stopped tick the bottom 2 boxes.
Tap on Ok
CheckPOInt always goes back to the the TomTom front screen when you tap on Ok.
Tap on the Icon bottom right and select International Settings, I use English and Miles. Tap Ok
Do the same again and select Overlay Settings.
You should now see in the Overlay file box a CheckPOInt.ov2 file at the top and all the pocketgps .ov2 files
Setting Announcements
To get the voice announcements to work you need to select each .ov2 in turn.
Tap on pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.ov2 and this will highlight the Properties Box botton right
Tap on Propeties and you get the setup screen. Tick the box for "Detect POI's for this overlay", then tap on First Warning
Tick Box Give a First Warning
Leave the next box down at 30
At the Sound to play as first warning box tap on the right hand box with 3 dots on it. This bring up a file select screen, navigat to the folder where you installed the .wav files which if you have followed this will be in Program Files\CheckPOInt and you will see all the.wav files you installed.
Tap on the .wav file you want to use. I use approach_gatso. When you tap on the wav file it goes back to the previous screen and plays the .wav file.
Tap on Speed Warning. In the Speedlimit for POI's in this overlay. Select 20, leave the middle box at 20 secs.
Tap on the bottom right box with 3 dots and select the speed limit wav file,
cam20limit this will take you back to the previous screen and play the wav file.
Tap on Last Warning.
Tick Box Give a last warning
leave Middle box at 10 secs
Tap on sound to play box with 3 dots and select wav file I use the cam20limit.wav again. You are then back in the previous screen, tap on Ok to go back to the overlay settings screen.
You need to repeat this Setting Announcements for each of the .ov2 files that you want to be announced.
After you have finished setting the announcements tap on ok to get back to TomTom front screen then exit TomTom.
Whilst this setup works for me I can't say that it will work on other PDA's,
you will certainly need a good quality fast SD card as there are a lot of .ov2 and .bmp files on the Storage card.
I have been using this setup for a few weeks now as I initally split the December release up and then sent them to Richard just befor the last release. I havent had any lockups and all the cameras I have passed have been correctly announced. _________________ Graham.

Here - they're in the Zip file along with the POI files.

Have you enabled them in TomTom?
Properties, POI then ticked Show Points of Interest, then ticked the ones you want enabled. _________________ Graham.

Yes and then No. Read Xda's step thro' at the start of this thread - it tells you everything you need to know. _________________ Richard

You need three programs. TomTom Navigator V2 or V3.
CheckPOInt V2.0.2.0 and the Speed camera database.
The Great_Britain Navigator Map directory is created by the installation of TomTom and the Map. _________________ Graham.

You need to have Purchased a TomTom V2 or V3, Version 3 is the last release. You can purchase TomTom from thier Web site or any of the resellers

The installation of the Speed Camera Database was always a mystery to me and CheckPOInt 3.2 confused matters further as it comes with its own camera/POI database/icon structure which can be syncronised. So not being sure about the setup, I decided against using it altogether - until today.
Good and clear instructions xda. Following your instructions, and using CheckPOInt 2.0.2 I think I've finally got the Pocket GPS World Speed Camera Database all set up correctly now. Thank you. |
