I have a Haicom 303MMF GPS unit and I can't seem to get it to switch back over to NMEA.
All I get are garbage charachters when I look at the NMEA log.
I've been using Winfast CE, but to no avail.
All input welcome.

Used both versions to no avail. The .9 beta won't let me get past:
SIRF: Entering decoding thread
It just sits there.
When I try to switch to NMEA I continue to get garbage characters.
Then I get the following message.
NMEA: No leading $
This is reapeated 7-8 times then I get
NMEA: Corrupt sentence
Any help is appreciated. |

I've found on my BC-307 that SiRF defaults to 9600 baud while NMEA is 4800 - that might account for the garbage characters ? |

The issue is sorted - but sadly the end of this thread was one of the things lost in the server upgrade.
In the end the original poster managed to reset his GPS using SiRFdemo on the PC. It's a bit of a mystery why none of the Pocket PC tools worked. Winfast Navigator will switch modes on my HI-303MMF reliably.

I'd like to hear that how davelev123 solved the problem.
My 303MMF has also stucked in SiRF mode.
I tried also navigator, gpstweak and sirfdemo, but without no luck.

If you're really stuck, leave the HI-303MMF with no power for a week - that should reset it to factory defaults. This means you need to leave it disconnected from any cables and out of a CompactFlash slot.

Hi David,
Won't the "Factory Reset" command in Winfast Navigator have the same effect as letting the battery go completely dead for a week?

You can try the factory reset, but some GPS Receivers are programmed to to accept the command. |

Hi all,
Sorry, I've not checked back in a while.
My solution on my Haicom 303MMF was to use SIRFDemo with the unit connected to my laptop.
I used the factory reset to get back to NMEA. However, It required repeated tries to do so. None of the utilities on my PPC would work, so I tried it on my PC.
Switching back to Sirf mode is equally stubborn. It takes repeated attempts to get the unit to recognize the command.
Hope this helps.

How could your laptop recognized the GPS? Is there any GPS driver for Win XP to allow it recognizes and connect to the GPS comm port?
Thank you. |
