|
|
Most of you will know the name POIEdit when I mention it, as it's the core application behind the Pocket GPS World POI-Sync Service. Dave over at Dnote.nl has updated POIEdit to 3.5. Until now only TomTom users could use our POI-Sync service. Now with thanks to Dave, Navman and Destinator users can also use our POI-Sync service.
The new version of POIEdit available over at the new website POIEdit.com allows for Navman and TomTom users to convert any existing OV2 files that are available via our POI-Sync Service and have these automatically converted into ASC format when you choose LOCAL and then ASC file format. This will then allow you to use Navman and Destinator's respective import tools to import the POI's into the Navman SmartST v3, Navman iCN510/635/650 and Destinator 3 software using the respective import tools available with these applications.
This is a huge milestone and now means that the thousands of POI's available on our site here are now available to be used with Navman and Destinator products. Enjoy! |

I'm not generally a Monday person but this news has just made my week. I bought Destinator three weeks ago and I am really impressed. This is the icing, marzipan and candles on the cake. I'll D/L it tonight when I get home. |

Unless I'm missing something here, Navman users cannot yet use this to the full, as the POIs need to be converted to the Navman proprietary POI format. POIEdit will indeed transfer the POI file to the device, but only as an .asc file.
Also, although the Navman POIEditor can import, and export to the device, suitable .asc files (and the ones converted to .asc by POIEdit are suitable), the POIEdit programme only offers to save as Tomtom.asc. Now, while this format can be imported into Navman's POIEditor, Navman users would expect to be presented with an option to save as a Navman ASCII or Navman .csv file, in my opinion. _________________ Tim |

You're absolutely right, I should rename the filename formats to a more generic name, e.g. TomTom .asc to Poi .asc or something similar, since more applications besides TomTom can make use of it. I will put it on the todo list. |

POI.asc, I like that.
Also, when I open the prog, it says "Tomtom POI Edit". Definite red rag to a bull for a diehard Navman user. :D Finally, when I use Explorer the "Red hand" files show as POI Binairy. Note the extra 'i'. Is this correctable by you? _________________ Tim |

A red rag to Destinator users too I would imagine.
A much welcomed update to a program that until now I have not been able to use.
Are there many of us Die-hard Navman users around? _________________ Ian.

I would also very much welcome full Navman support in POIEdit. It would allow me to edit my POI files off-line in a much quicker way then by using the SmartST POI Editor.

Being a new owner of a Navman 510, I only wish I new what your all talking about.
Does any of this post apply to me?
I've only just got over the headache of loading all the speed camera's onto my Auto Route 2004. Not quite sure why I did or what I'm supposed to do with it now that I have, but I figure any new found knowledge is a good thing. |

No, because you can't import Custom POIs into V2. _________________ Tim |

Just followed all the instructions from this website to download all the POI's to my Pin 300 and every time I save to device in the pinedit it says no POI found in input.
Am I missing something, or am I doing something wrong? |

You're probably doing something wrong. What are you using to edit the .csv file? _________________ Tim |
