I use TT3 and am very happy with it.
My only complaint is that it doesnt offer RDSTMC. I did consider TomTom Traffic but 1) It cost more than RDS.TMS for the same data 2) In addtion to the subscription you have to pay GPRS fees and 3) - The big one. - My mobile network doesnt offer GPRS access outside their own content (walled garden!)
The temptation is therefore do ditch TT3 and go to Navigon.
Has anyone made the switch? The user navigation does not seem to be so friendly with the touch icons in TT3 missing? - If someone has used both how did you find the comparison? |

Hi Wlodek,
Orange is a very good network for GPRS.
I have a contract O2 and I didn’t want to use that for voice communication as well as GPRS. I use a BT headset and the phone (Nokia 6230) can’t handle two BT connections at the same time.
I have an old Nokia 6310i in which I first tried a PAYG O2 SIM, but I found that O2 don’t allow their PAYG SIMs to use GPRS.
I then contacted Orange and asked if my Orange PAYG SIM would be OK for GPRS. Orange was very helpful. They set the SIM to use GPRS and WAP and talked me through setting up the phone and the iPAQ for GPRS use.
Orange even gave me £12.00 credit on WAP and GPRS data. Unfortunately the credit was only valid for one month but it gave me enough time to trial GPRS.

I've got Navigon and I have to say It's very good.
Took me to Northampton the other day and it picked up all the heavy traffic etc. every time. |

How did you guess!!!!
We get 3G but only to a very limited number of options.
I cant get on with Alturion or Navigon so stick with TT3 without TMC
The ultimate would be a TMC addon/plugin for TT3 - but TT want to stick to their subscription model. |

'Three' have ruined what could have been a great service by strangling it in that way. I have a Vodafone 3G Data Card and it is a revelation (when in a covergae area). Full Broadband data access when mobile is a joy! _________________ Darren Griffin |
