Just joined group and I am very impressed with help that I have seen.
I have a problem that I hope someone can solve.
My daughter just bought a HP iPAQ rz 1710 with Tom Tom pack (PCWorld)
not sure what version TT is but think its version 3 on SD card case it has 2H00.160.
Somehow after messing with it the iPAZ is saying no maps detected and someone said she has taken the SD card out while it was switched on but I cannot see that would cause problem.
If the maps have been lost can a version be downloaded and installed or is she going have to pay £80 for a new Tom Tom card.
Also once problem resolved can a backup be kept on PC.
Would be most grateful for any help |

Hi,
If she bought the pack from PC World, surely she has some installation CD's for TomTom?
Once you do manage to resolve the problem, it's worth installing Sprite Back-Up on the iPAQ. With this, you can back up everything on your Pocket PC (documents and navigation data) and keep the back-ups either on your desktop PC or Pocket PC. Then if you ever have to do a hard reset (which wipes all of your data) or have a problem like this again, you can just restore the data from your most recent back-up file.
HTH.

Bo Peep. _________________ TomTom 730

Thanks for reply
The only thing that came with iPAQ was Activesync CD and an SD card in a seperate box and iPAQ manuals.
If she has lost data from SD card can it be downloaded and re-installed via an SD writeror via the iPAQ , or is there more on the card than just the maps data.

there should have been a software cd in the black box with the reciever this the cd in this box contains the tomtom navigator software which also contains the uk maps the cd will have other maps on it but you have to purchase an activation code for these other maps but you will be able to access the uk maps as long as you have the orignal activation code _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. I believe she's bought the HP Navigation pack.
A collegue bought one of these for Xmas and it too became corrupted. I fixed it for him by hard resetting the iPaq having first removed the supplied sd card. Once reset, Tomtom installs from the sd card on insertion.
I hope this helps, Moggy6.
Good luck. |

She can,t try that at the moment as my eldest daghter's boyfriend (Antony) has it, he has the same system and he was checking it out.
Just a thought if the hard reset doesn't work if Antony copies his SD card to a PC is it possible to relaod contents onto another SD card, is there any activation problems etc etc etc.

I'm pretty certain the hard reset will work.
I can't comment on the copying of the sd card contents onto another sd card, as I don't know much about the software activiation aspescts on that particular system. |
