|

I am new to Sat Nav and Ipac's. I have as I said an iPac 4700 with Tom tom Nav ver 3 and the Arkon GPS/PDA mount. I have everything working except it doesnt want to find my home position as it says it is the first favourite but the favourite menue is always empty. The most annoying thing though is I have to keep tapping the screen to stop the pda from going to the screen saver and shutting down the backlight. I would have thought the Tom tom software would overwrite the defaults of the PDA screen saver. I managed to download and install some POI even if the link to the site supplied by Globalpositioning systems (who I bought the kit from) (and who's service is excelent by the way) does not seem to show Navigato 3 as an option. However has anybody got sound files to alert me about speed camera's. Where do I get these from and most importantly "How do I install them. sorry this is a long posting. A lot of things that are basic to most techy minded people are not obvious to me. |

Welcome to the forum.
These devices are called iPAQ...
You can permanently disable the screensaver on the 4700. It is the only device with such a fancy toy, and therefore neither TomTom nor other programs care to cater for that.
POI management is the same between TomTom Navigator 2 and 3
Have a look around at this site, it explains in detail how to setup the safety camera POIs including the voice warnings. _________________ Lutz

You can disable the screensaver, when it comes on tap and hold on the screen and you will get a drop down menu. _________________ Regards

Thanks for all the info. I think I have a handle on the poi now. I loaded them all up using the POI edit tool and the prog would not run due to no memory left so i reinstalled the whole thing again and chose a few only. I cant find any sound files for warning of cpeed camera's or any information on where to get them. Probably I have not looked in the correct place on the site. |
