Hi !
This might be a dumb question but I have to ask. I can't fins out the right settings for tomtom to comunicate with my BT GPS reciver. It's a reciver called roadnav rn-600.
When I connect my Ipaq to the reciver with BT I found a device called "SPP slave" I bound my ipaq with it and both the ipaq and reciver indicates there is a bluetooth connection. And there is now my problem starts. The reciver indicates it's have contact with one or more GPS sattelites. BUT.... when I start tomtom he says that that he can't determine a correct GPS location.
I have no idé how to setup the gps in tomtom, I think I have tried all the possible combinations. If I look at the tech spec of my reciver it has support for nmea 0183 with 3800 baud.
When looking in the settings in tomtom I can use alot of different nmea 0183 connections. I have tried: nmea 0183v2 bluetooth with "serial cabel on BT" bluetooth serial port com6, 7 and 8.
I have tried nmea 0183v2 38400 with the same "ports"
The reciver shuld also have support for SIRF, I have tried that to.
What am I doing wrong? what settings huld I use? Can't I use my reciver with tomtom? is there something wong with the install so I have to reinstall tomtom?

TomTom displays "GPS position unreliable" when you are not close to a street that the map knows. Nothing to worry here.
For the GPS setup, use the simplest possible settings. Verify the Outgoing Serial Port in your Bluetooth settings, then use this port together with "Standard NMEA 38400"
Do not attempt to use SiRF. _________________ Lutz

Go to the Bluetooth settings
Start > Settings > Connections > BlueTooth
Tap on Services > Serial Port
Make sure the service is enabled, and NO authentication is required.
Tap on Advanced
Note the Outgoing COM Port. That's the one you must use.
let us know what's written there. _________________ Lutz

Sounds like you run the 3970 on Pocket PC 2002.
In the Today screen, tap the Bluetooth icon in the bottom right corner, and then take it from there. The menu may be a bit different but the idae is the same. Search for "Settings for all devices" _________________ Lutz

I solved the problem !!!!! I was "hacking" some in the registry and found out that the gps was comunication on port 10. I changed it to 8 and made the same change in tomtom and it's working fine now. But thank you for taking your time trying to help me.
But I found another problem. With maps. When I have the "navigate to meny" and the map is kind of detailed, everything works fine. But when I choose map I canät se anything, it just a light blue screen. Any Idéas ? |

in the preferences, check the box "Always keep GPS position on screen" - ths will repaint the map with your current position in the center.
If you live in Corpus Christi, Texas, then you are out of luck. The map there has exactly the problem you describe... _________________ Lutz
