Can someone tell me what the cheapest Bluetooth receiver is and where the best place to buy from is?
I can swear I saw some models priced at £59.99 - but I can't find remember where! 8O
The cheapest I've found is the Tomtom receiver priced at £79.99 + VAT at Hantec.
Thanks.

I have seen the Globalsat BT 308 for £57.99 on Ebay
As with everything on Ebay though, you take a chance. _________________ Ian.

EasyDevices have a Purplegrid K2 16 Channel BT Receiver for £65+VAT. I am testing one at the moment and it's small, has a removable battery and currently comes with both mains and car chargers.

Hi Darren
I thought about getting the purplegrid myself but refrained as i couldnt find much information about it. The battery life appears to be fantastic if it is true. I currently use a fortuna clipon but this requires 2 new batteries at the moment (£35) and i thought putting this towards a new receiver could be a better option.
Will you be reviewing this product? If not could you let me know your comments?
Thanks in advance

I am in the process of testing the Purplegrid and should be publishing a review in a week or so.
I can say that it's a good performer, quick to acquire and pulls in a strong signal. The battery life is a little optimistic but I have had approximately 14 hours of use before I had to recharge.
At the price it's good value and works well. It has a soft rubber base to prevent sliding on the dash and the battery is removeable. The only downside is the construction is a little plasticky and the power socket is not the same as the iPAQ version so requires you use the charger supplied rather than an existing iPAQ charger.
The review unit I have came with a continental 2-Pin Power Adapter and I will need to clarify if this was a one-off but it currently comes with the optional 12v charger bundled at present as well so no problems powering it anyway. _________________ Darren Griffin

I received a Purplegrid K2 today, but cannot get it to work with either TomTom or Memory Map. Does anyone know what setup settings I need to apply?
I have managed to create an outgoing bluetooth connection to the device, but don't seem to get data tranfer between the devices.
Any ideas?

Cheapest is not always best! The best at the moment is any SiRFIII receiver, they are a phenominal improvement on their predecessors, very fast start-up and work indoors in many cases where others would not.
The cheapest branded receivers tend to be GlobalSat's BT308's which are excellent receivers. _________________ Darren Griffin |
