|
|
Can anyone help me please.
I am trying to set up a friends 3630 IPAQ with TomTom Version 3 & Navman 3400 Voice Jacket. Everthing is all ok as far as the IPAQ is concerned, the expansion jacket is detected as a Navman GPS, but when I go into the TOMTOM GPS section and choose any of the 3 Navman Versions available on Com4 (No other Option) no satalite signal is recieved. I have tried each setting for approx an hour & rebooted between each change.
Can anyone please help me?
Regards

If you haven't got any Navman software such as Smart ST installed, you need to install a driver for the Navman GPS.
Unfortunately I have no experience of these GPSes, but hopefully there'll be someone along soon who can point you in the right direction.

Many Thanks for your reply.
The only option I have to use the Navman Driver, is If I select Navman GPS100 Option, All The Others Navman GPS 1000 & 3000 default to Com4 which I cannot edit.
Getting slightly fustrated now ! :-)
Any More Help Anyone?
Many Thanks

I was referring to a driver program that you need to install on the Pocket PC to use the Navman GPS. It's built in to some Navman navigation software, but if you only have TomTom Navigator installed, you will need to track down and install the appropriate driver program.
You can then configure TomTom GPS and use TomTom Navigator.

The driver of which David speaks can be found on this very site, just here. It is the fourth download on the list. _________________ Tim |

Hi. Many Thanks for your replies.
I had already loaded this driver & selected Navman GPS100 & then selected the Driver. If I select any of the other Navman GPS selections (1000,3000) it automatically selects Com4 So GPS100 is the only way I can use The Navman Serial Driver..
Any other suggestions??
Regards

COM4 is actually correct. But in TomTom GPS you should NEVER select a named driver. Always select the settings manually - Standard NMEA 4800 on COM4 _________________ Lutz

Again Thanks.....
I have selected NMEA 0183V2 4800 but the only connections I can select are
Navman Driver
Com3
IRDA Connection
Serial Cable On Com1
Serial On USB
Any other Ideas?

What happens if you select "Navman driver"
You may have installed the wrong jacket driver. there are multiple versions available, and they work with different jackets. Try to install a different version - we have a few on our downloads page. _________________ Lutz

I can only select Navman Driver If I select anything other than the Navman Selections, as it automatically selects COM4 for them.
I have Navman Serial Driver 3.16 installed.. it is the only one I can find?

I sent you 3.1.1 - try that.
Why would you think COM 4 is a problem? Do you by any chance have Navigon or TomTom installed? _________________ Lutz

TomTom V3 - there's your problem. You may need to replace the TomTom GPS driver with an older version (2.07) from our downloads page.
I recommend you run a GPS test program first (like Crux_View) before you install TomTom. _________________ Lutz

ok I have downloaded crux view & removed TomTom
When I run Crux View & select Com4 & 4800 Baud & then select open it says it cannot open com port, if I select 3 it says read error?
This is just getting deeper & deeper...what is wrong?
I wish I knew for sure what I was supposed to set the TomTom GPS Software to.... |
