Argh - problems and lengthy draft post lost!
After much work I think I know what's happening.
My "Start" toolbar looks OK but I believe it's "overlaying" the entire "Today" screen.
Background
A few days ago I selected "Start" > "Programs" and the "Start" drop-down simply rolled back up.
I selected "Start" > (various) and the same thing happened.
I did a soft reset and everything worked fine.
Today (after forking out 30 euro for a fresh POI-Warner licence) I find the same thing happening but...
A soft reset does not cure it.
Random tapping of "open" area on "Today" screen brings up "connectivity" or "volume" or "time and next appointment" bubbles (remember this for later)
The hardware buttons work fine (another clue)
Hard reset - No good. In fact I'm stuck in a seemingly endless "Align" screen loop.
Hard reset > restore from back-up = back at the "Today" screen but same inability to access anything in the "Start" drop-down.
Then it hits me - the random tapping > "bubbles" actually has a pattern. Touching any area of the "Today" screen directly below the related icon on the "Start" toolbar brings up that icons "bubble".
So - thats whats happening with the "Start" drop-down itself.
The PDA thinks I'm hitting Start and then Start again.
Can anyone still awake and not falling about laughing offer any constructive advice!?

For absolute clarification I mean touching any part of the "Today" screen perpendicular to the relevant icon e.g. two inches below, not "borderline, maybe touching the Start toolbar".... |

Desparation "bump"!
Nobody ever heard of this "'Start' taskbar is overlaying my 'Today' screen" behaviour? |

This is a long shot, try going to Start - Settings - System - then start the Screen program, and Align Screen, and see if that works.

Hi.
Not sure that would've worked as selecting anything under "Start" caused the "Start" drop down to roll back up....as it thought you were actually tapping the "Start" button itself for a second time.
Having said that I did various hard resets to get to the align screen and they didnt work.
At the end of the day I returned it to Aldi for a full refund (which was extremely good of them as I'd had my wallet and receipt nicked since this problem arose)
Thanks anyway |
