Hi.
Has anybody else got the new Medion in addition to the old one (MDPPC200 / MD40600) and decided to put POI-Warner on the new one?
What is the best way to do this?
Is it possible to "copy" a registered version of "old" POI-Warner onto the new Medion and then upgrade it to the MN4 compatible version (for 9.90 Euro).
...or are you supposed to update it on the old PC and copy across?
...or am I looking at another 29.90 Euro!?
Cheers
NOI but please no "Try TT & CheckPOInt" |

My old Medion died... So I lost my Poi warner...
What I did was :
1. Go online and order the upgrade using all my old PoiWarner details.
2. Install on to my new medion
3. Go to the PoiWarner web site and request a new registration code based on the new installation code created when installing PoiWarner.
Now I have a fully working version on my new medion. |

Sorry for delay.
In the end I simply bought another full licence (for the Medion Nav 4 version).
Do I hear the sound of people fainting?
I figured that I would be using both old and new PPCs for navigation at different times and it seemed the right thing to do.
That and the thought that ugrading the old version for the new PPC would probably render it useless on the old PPC e.g. when sync-ing that subsequently.... |

Help!!!!!
I have bought theMedion 95000 from Aldi. When i tried to install the POI waner from http://www.navigating.de/MN_en/POI/Index.htm it wouldn't let me, as it said it doesn't support 4.2. Does anybody know how I can get the POI which shows speed cameras? |

Hello Hector,
Sounds like you've downloaded the wrong version of POI Warner. I have it running on my 95000 so I know it works.
Try here http://www.navigating.de/MN_en/POI/Index_Choice.htm and choose the left hand link.
Good luck

A while back somebody posted a link to the AT&T website for text to speech synthesis
http://www.research.att.com/projects/tts/demo.html
and I used that to create my warnings. I think the standard warning is a German female voice, with the speech synthesis site above there are a selection of voices to use, I used "Audrey".
I typed in the warnings I wanted spoken and created the sound files and saved them to my PC. I found they were a little quiet for use with the PPC so I downloaded a wave editor (just type wave editor in Google, theres quite a few) and used that to increase the volume. Then I saved the files to my PPC, It doesn't seem to matter where you save them as PoiWarner searches for sound files and lists them all in the set up screen. Then just apply the one you want. It's a bit of a bind applying the voice warnings as you have to apply each warning to each speed camera type, I'm using the database from pocket gps world site (here) and theres 5 different files that need the warnings applying, but fortunately you only have to do it once.
The speech synthesis site is fun to play with, I was ages setting up my warnings! :P

Hi Crankeyman, Thanks for your informative info. I will give it a go. Navigon is a great piece of software once you have got used to some of the foibles. the POI warner works very well with it and the standard German female announcer sounds nice. I would like some more sound files though as the poi warner announces upcoming danger zone for all poi's not only safety cams, though in the case of little chefs mcdonalds and the like she may be correct in reporting them as such{haha} _________________ -------------------

See the topic Generating audio alerts for POI's. My samples now include warnings for new the mobile camera databases. Drop me a PM with your email address if you'd like a copy.
Cheers

Sorry if I haven't answered any PM's yet, I didn't realise I had not set this forum to send me an email when they arrive. I'll answer and send out the files tonight.
Cheers
