|
|
After setting all the clocks in the house and cars etc.. I would have presumed tomtom go would have beaten me to it. Not so. Going to set clock and 'sync' option and the time goes one hour ahead of what it should be eg GMT+1. Given that Tomtom knows which country I am in I would have thought it possible to work out the proper time (especially given the fact that UTC from the sats is correct.
I have tried using both 4.40 and the 4.42 update to no avail. Had to do a manual clock set to correct.
Maybe someone has figured it out or I have something else to e-mail Tomtom about? |

I am trying to remember if I/we was/were given the option of setting to a time zone, or a DST option when first powering the TTG up...

no, there isn't a time zone option. I can't see it being a problem to incorporate this feature though. |

Noticed the same thing with 4.42 yesterday. It's easy enough to knock the clock back one hour but it does appear to be a minor glitch. Worth emailing TomTom, I guess. If they take on board all of things that the users of this forum have spotted the next big software update should be a corker! |

I haven't checked, but I don't think TTG has a date stored anywhere... this is also necessary if you want him to work the time out himself, as well as some table defining when daylight saving is applicable. |

The GO will always set the time to UTC (what it gets from the satellite) and you will then have to adjust the hours back to your time zone. One wonders if TomTom have ever tested that feature outside of the GMT time zone.. I thought the Netherlands are GMT+1? _________________ Lutz

It works the same outside the GMT timezone (I'm in Germany). The TTG sync feature sets the clock to UTC as per the satellites. But is it really such a big deal to flip it on one hour? |

Technically speaking (i.e being REALLY picky ) the GPS receiver receives GPS time, which is actually 13 seconds ahead of UTC time (due to 13 "leap-seconds" being added since GPS time began in 1980. |

Who says it's one hour? For me it's six hours _________________ Lutz

OK then, 6 hours in your case! :P
But seeing as I bought this thing as a GPS unit (which it does pretty well) and not an alarm clock, I'm not too fussed about it. Let's be honest, it only needs the clock setting for ETA, otherwise it has no need of it... |

So they've probably just set it to default to central european time rather than this being a bug. It's quick enough to roll the hours back on screen so it's not really a bug after all, is it? |
