Using CoPilot 5, I occasionally find my "favourites", including home and work, vanish. It is a pain to re-enter them. Does anyone else have this, or is it just me?
How do I back-up the favourites file? I can't work out which file it is!
Regards,

Thanks Kartracer.
I've got it backed up now, but I still have no idea why it periodically goes missing in the first place!
Oh well... that's computers for you I suppose.

No expert, but just a thought.
When you up/down?load data from the desktop to the pocket pc, there is an option to download favourites (along with Quickstart et al)
If this were ticked, is it possible you are overriding your PPC favourites with a blank default file?

Thanks Duncan, good idea.
Unfortunately I haven't done any downloading from the PC. This just happens from time to time when re-starting co-pilot on my PPC. Now that I've backed up the file, it probably won't happen again!
Cheers,
Mike
(It was just irritating that I had spent some time entering some favourites using planning mode, and when I went back to favourites later, the file was empty, including home and work-grrr) |

Yes, this had happened to me several times as well. Seems like a sporadic thing that could be possibly related to turning off the PPC with CoPilot running. Although I regularly do that and have only lost my favs on several occasions. It is happening in Version 5 and had been happening in Version 4 too. What I did is I saved a "base" copy of favourites to the main memory, as I keep the maps on the card (or was it the other way round...? its a bit of a mess as those files are present in both locations and it's a tough time figuring out which location is the real one). So the backup stays backed up like a "clean" version and if I lose it, I restore the most important places easily. Which could also serve the purpose of quickly cleaning up your favourites list when it gets messy with meaningless locations.
With all the crap that falls out in the CP favourites, it makes one wonder why ALK called this list of recently selected locations "favourites" and not "recently selected locations". In my opinion "favourites" is something that you explicitly define and not your recent journey history, imagine all of your browser cache ending up in your favourites folder
