|

I know this must have been asked a thousand times but this site is becoming un-navigable for the occasional contributor.
I am about to head to Europe on the bike for the first time since:
a 2014 and
b starting to use an iPhone 6S running MyRoute-app instead of a dedicated sat nag device, which back in the day, I used without the French and Swiss databases.
I have been using CamerAlert for many years in this country with no problems but with the impending trip to Europe I am concerned about the French and Swiss data being included in the CamerAlert database.
There was an article back in 2012 saying that the CamerAlert database was going to become available without the France and Switzerland sites but I never followed this up.
So, is there any way to get the CamerAlert app WITHOUT the French and Swiss data as I can for the sat nag download?
Many thanks, Brian |

No, the idea is that you just don't use the app in those countries (or you use it at your own risk).
For physical SatNav's then that's not an easy option to remove the cameras while out and about so that's an option for the download.

May I offer a possible solution or hack? Switch off CamerAlert whilst you’re in France and Switzerland? _________________ Dennis

Thanks for the response. The main reason for asking was rumours about devices being confiscated if the app was loaded even though not turned on which seems a bit steep, even for the Gendarmerie. We had a guy in the group who was running the TomTom app on his phone so he got more accurate warnings than did those of us running MyRoute app on our phones. The French still do a good job of giving fair warning of the site of fixed cameras so we had no issues there.
Not running the app meant that I missed the average speed indications which I find really useful.
Thanks again to you and Dennis for the responses, Brian. |
