some misc questions about pda's

Hi

I was wondering if all brands of PocketPC's have the same jack for powering. Because if you buy navigon MN4 (or TT3) you get cradle for you car with power-feed. But if all PDA's doesn't have the same jack, these software cons would have to have a cradle for each brand. Am I right?

Yep, you are. And they don't have to justify the ridiculously high costs of their moulded plastic cradles to anyone as there's little alternative choice.

The situation is no different to that that exists in the mobile phone market place. Each manufacturer has it's own sync port layout and in some brands they even differ between models!

HP have so far retained a common connector for the vast majority of their PDAs although this may have changed with the latest new releases. It's not only a pain having to have different cradles and power supplies for them all but identifying what power supply is for what device is a nightmare made much more difficult by the fact that many sync port connector look identical and differ only in the pin assignment. Use the wrong one and you could easily destroy your device as what might be the power pins on one can often be a totally different assignment on another!
