I thought it might be useful to have a thread anyone interested in the C500 version of TomTom Mobile can monitor.
Please post any info here on an official (or unofficial ;)) release of this fix. _________________ CJSnet |

A little quiet around here.
I have been asking TomTom but all they can say is there are handsets in testing but they cannot release any news until they are ready, at which time the news will appear at http://tinyurl.com/6s7gp (if that doesn't work, go to TomTom Support and search for "Which phones"). You can then set to be notified when the topic changes.
I also heard elsewhere that it is due before Christmas, but no news as to how testing is going.
Anyone else got any nuggets? (Preferably not chicken.) _________________ CJSnet |

Been watching this for a while now, sorry nothing to add yet though.
I'm at upgrade time with my current phone and want to go the route of a gps compatible mobile this has to be done before a trip around scotland in the new year. I'd rather the CPV e500 over the nokia 6600 or the cpv e200 but I just don't know how long I should hold out before I settle for one of those
So frustrating! |

Get the C500 and switch to CoPilot. |

Unfortunately there is a fix and it doesn't work (confirmed by myself and one other who I can't name)
It's a very bad workaround at present and doesn't work. It's something I need to re-badger TomTom about. Currently there still is no OFFICIAL support for the C500! |

Thanks for the update Dave. Out of interest what is the problem with the C500 that prevents it working? Also, what is the (bad) fix at present?
I am sure TomTom must be working hard on this, unless you know otherwise.
A guesstimated date for a working fix would be fantastic, from your experience which such things. _________________ CJSnet |

All I can say is that it's down to the hardware (according to TomTom) yet other companies aren't experiencing this problem
I can't say any more on this subject apart from there is a long annoying workaround to get it working (which doesn't work) I don't think TomTom have any C500's themselves as they're saying the workaround has worked for some but it certainly doesn't work on 2xC500's I've tried it on. |

ive just tried the c500 rom update this evening re loaded tom tom and still cannot get it to work, I think the problem is down to hardware and the bluetooth connection. When I use the Nokia 6600 with tom tom and starting tom tom up the bluetooth receiver once connected has a permanent bluetooth light showing instead of the flashing light

I believe it's the way TomTom are trying to connect to the BT GPS. They're not using the Operating System because they don't want you to create a bond with the GPS, so they're bypassing this and I believe this is what's causing the problem. |

Possibly not on the same line of theory, as previous post, but I can create and bond a connection with the tom tom bluetooth receiver

Hi anyone/everyone! Any news on this as yet? Becoming frustrating now, and TomTom won't even confirm to me they are going to support the C500. Big mistake if they don't as we'll all agree.
Dave, did you get anywhere hassling them about the issues you encountered with their workaround? _________________ CJSnet |
