I have the Western Europe maps and have noticed an anomaly since the last map/ system update. Most of my work is travelling throughout England, but I do cover the whole UK. This morning I put in a new postcode for a customer in Glasgow. Postcode not found... Okay, i'll use the town and road name. Town not found!!! This was at 4am this morning, so not enjoying the "fun and games of a 350 mile journey that can't be plotted. In desperation I thought about making sure the right country was selected and found England, Scotland and Wales are now listed separately and not integrated as they once were. This could prove awkward when visiting places that are on country borders. Is it in England? Is it in Scotland? Is it in Wales? Why would they do that?? I agree that they are separate countries, but we are the United Kingdom.

Not sure what you were pm'd by M8TJT but when you hit Where to, Address does it not say at the top "Select Town or Post Code in England"?
Bottom box should give you the Change country option. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

What I think the OP meant was that Garmin have now separated each UK Country whereas the UK was classed as the one in the past. I also travel different parts of the UK and find the need to change country to input post codes both irritating and needless. |

Sort of hijacking the thread. Sorry.
I hadn't noticed the split, but can imagine that it's a pain and causes the question "Why the hell would they do that?" |

I agree, sounds stupid.
The maps are UK & Ireland not England, Scotland, Wales & Ireland _________________ Satnav:

I'm not 100% sure but I think it's always been this way. I know the issue has been raised before ... _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I don't use mine for navigation so I don't know.
Mine is just for the digital traffic and speed camera display (advance warning before CA tells me) _________________ Satnav:

That is correct. Was a real bind trying to work out what they had done too the unit. Seems to be a backwards step to me _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |

As I've posted I'm not sure it was one country in the past as I know this has been raised before. It's possible I guess that a software update has changed the behaviour of your device, can't recall which one you have.
I suggest you make a suggestion at https://www8.garmin.com/contactUs/ideas/ if you feel it's something worth changing.
(Edit: Just checked my old 1310 that is kept as a back up and has maps from a number of versions ago and it also is split England, Wales etc so I don't believe it's a map change but it's always been this way) _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Once upon a time, almost before I became an Elderly, I tried a Garmin and was most disturbed when it warned me I was near a foreign country (Wales) as I drove round Bristol. _________________ Dennis

In the (ancient) past my various units also offered separate countries, which was always an inconvenience. But, a few years ago "United Kingdom" was listed, which was good. I hadn't spotted the reversion until just now. Silly move. _________________ Dabri.

I've now checked out 4 devices, the only one that gives the option to select United Kingdom as well as England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland is my 1310. Note this is with various maps, both a selection of NT and NTU versions and various versions, one going back to 2011.
I don't believe there has been a change therefore caused by the map. It may be that the software on different devices treats the map differently, or that a different map selection (UK versus EU) causes a change.
Those concerned would do well to inform Garmin, unless folks make them aware of the issue it's unlikely to alter. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way.
