You don't have to, many users on Win10.
Have you followed the helpfile instructions 'to the letter' ?
The BMP and WAV files are in the download package and are moved to your 'working directory' just once.
From then on you only need to unzip the camera csv files - using the program - not via any other unzip package.
....or it won't work. _________________ Satnav:

I have read the instructions, didn't have issues when putting it on my old laptop (which is also W10, but was upgraded from W8 with the programme already on). I also started to read this thread, but 55 pages pages is a bit of a lot to go through, could it be worthwhile starting a new one with the newer information to make it easier to find? Have installed/ uninstalled several times with ccleaner, going for a cuppa now to ease the frustration _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |

You don't need to trawl through the pages here.
In the download package are a number of helpfiles in various formats (Converter.PDF, Converter.Docx, Converter.HTM and Converter.Mht, but they are all the same so choose your favourite.
The helpfile was rewritten and QA'd a short time ago and explains things in the correct order.
Just go through it step by step.
... and it's nowhere near 55 pages. Probably the first 3 or 4 will explain enough to get you going. _________________ Satnav:

Do you still have the version I am currently using still please, as I can see the new version appears to have changed substantially? v2013.07.22.2116, I have looked and the download links have all been updated.
Thanks _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |

Sadly not.
Each new version irons out bugs. The latest version has been in existence for quite a while now as no new issues have been reported for ages.
Also the helpfile is bang up to date with the latest version.
All in all though the functionality hasn't changed for even longer. _________________ Satnav:

I'm really struggling now. I have downloaded the latest installer and camera files. I have put the wav files I currently have and that I want in the working folder. I have put bmp files in the working folder for the files I am creating. Whenever I open the programme, it keeps saying it is looking for mp3 files, where are they from? The instructions say wav. I have now renamed the wav files to mp3, it is still looking for them!! I give up and will have to work between the 2 laptops until the older one dies _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |

You shouldn't be using MP3 files as your Garmin needs wave files, they in turn need a program called sox.exe
All this is detailed in the help file. It may be worth deleting everything you've created so far and go through the procedure in the help file step by step.
Incidentally renaming wav files to mp3 files doesn't make them mp3 files _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I'm really struggling to understand what you're doing wrong.
As posted, forget MP3, you need WAV files, plus the SOX, which the program will auto install if it doesn't find it.
Let me make contact with someone who may be able to help. _________________ Satnav:

I know that, but I was desperately trying anything to make the software recognise it.
I had wav files, the programme wanted to look for mp3. I have sox in the specified folders, it still wouldn't create my files in the working directory. I have now found v2013.02.20.2115 and works, so shows that I am hopefully doing something right. It is just the difference between the old and the new. _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |

My CSV Converter doesn't look for MP3 files alone.
It looks for both WAV or MP3 as some older Garmins do use MP3.
With regard to an older version working - you've got me because, as I said, the functionality hasn't changed.
I'd have loved to have seen a screendump of any error messages.
That's a real shame you can't get the latest version working because it's so much better over 5 years development. _________________ Satnav:

Update
Garmin, in their infinite wisdom, have decided to change the path that new versions of POILoader are installed to by default.
It used to be C:\Program Files\Garmin\POI Loader\ (or the X86 location)
It is now C:\Program Files\Garmin\POILoader\ (note the missing space)
Program changed to cope with both locations.

When I changed from a 2599 to a 2699 I was surprised by how much smaller the camera icons were.
I'm just at stage 1 but I've created a new set of beta icons at 66x66 to see if they stand out more.
I've put them in the main download file in case anyone else is finding the 44x44 a tad small.
Note: Still beta and I've not tried them yet. _________________ Satnav:

There's one fully transparent one which is the overspeed one. That stops the Converter throwing an error message about a mismatch. _________________ Satnav:
