DS61 LMT-D. In the last couple of days I have lost the detail from the map, with them just showing the major roads. i.e. as in Settings ~ Map & vehicle ~ Map Detail ? Less. If I select 'Normal', the preview displays the normal amount, but when I go to Map view, the detail is lost. I have to run the 'Detail' on 'More' to get the detail. It seems that this feature has arisen from a recent software update.
So if you lose all the map detail, set it to 'More' and all will be OK. |

I've always set mine to 'More' anyway. (As was the 2699 when I went through the settings)
The only thing I did was delete the Cyclops files. _________________ DashCam:

OK, but that doesn't explain the problem, does it?
When it went, Even if I zoomed right in on 'Normal', there was no detailk other than the major roads.
On a different tack. Can you get rid if the blue 'where I've been' trail without turning off all the Travel history stuff? |

Yes, the unit keeps a record of where you've been anyway..
To turn it off go to Settings, Map Layers, Arrow down to Trip Log (4th option) and untick _________________ DriveLuxe 51 LMT D - Firmware 6.80

I'm guessing here but it's all I can think of as all my Garmins have worked as you describe, and like K I set mine to Most.
Perhaps there was a bug in the software on your device so that the map detail levels didn't work and was always Most? The default out the factory is Normal, so when you did the software update it corrected the bug and set the map detail level to Normal? _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

The map detail was set to Normal, but no detail until I set it to More then back again.
The 2699 that Kremmen has is my old unit which I used to run on More, but as you say, perhaps either I hadn't changed my new one or the update reset it to Normal. Either way, it doesn't explain the loss. Oh well. I've set it to More and that's where it will stay.
@BAVC10. Ta, I'll try that.

For what it's worth, my 2699 also loses roads although the PGPSW camera's still show where the roads should be. I re-installed the entire map hoping that this would sort it out but it didn't. My setting is also set to 'more'. This has only started happening in the recent few months. |

It seems to be OK now. I'll see what happens long term . I'll leave it on normal for a bit as I know if I select more then normal again it's OK. It's as if it's setting itself to Less but still showing as Normal that seems to be the problem.
Strange that the Garmin pdf does not tell you how to reset the DS 61 and the bottom right hand corner trick does not appear to work (not that I want to reset it anyway) |

(I don't RTFM as I prefer much quicker answers from an expert). How do you clear the breadcrumbs so that you can breadcrumb a new journey without clearing all the other stuff it stores? |

Don't believe you can but then mine are always turned off. On my 2508 you can clear trip data through the menu, but it's all or nothing and there doesn't seem to be that or any other option on the Drive models, although I guess it may only appear if you have Travel History enabled. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I still have issues with the infuriating minor and single-track roads it unnecessarily sends me on. Do I assume that a master reset also returns what the unit will have learned to zero too (not that it appears that it's learned anything)? |
