I am a happy user of PGPSW speed cameras but I keep getting banners warning Caution Slow Down for no obvious reason. Also I have found something called Safety Camera Scouts. I have tried searching to find out what these are (using an Android tablet) without success. Does anyone know or where to look? The scout has a permanent tick. I assume these are Garmin items.
Cheers

I've never had any of those caution banners.
Are you running more than one .GPI ?
What unit have you got? Some of the newer ones have driver assist features. _________________ DashCam:

His Kremmen. It''s the 2599. I assume it''s just the one but I know I have removed the Cyclops data as you recommended. I will need to hook up to a PC to have a proper look. |

Are the banners speed limit warnings? Never seen them on mine though even if they are, probably because I have speed limit warnings turned off |

2599, same as me.
When turned on, the Garmin overspeed is a series of bong bong bong bong bong zzzzzzźz. Now it's turned off all I see is the prevailing road speed limit change its surround colour to red/pink.
I've never had any banner warnings other than my uploaded PGPSW cameras. _________________ DashCam:

I am going to check exactly what happens and report further. As far as I know I have turned off all other cameras other than your warning's. I am beginning to wonder if it may be a function of their Bluetooth/smartphone app. The product came with their free cameras for life and now I find I get weather updates too.
I am going to contact Garmon and see if there is an "proper" documentation and try and get screenshots.
Thanks for your thoughts. |

Garmin support is useless.
I reported that the latest v5 has an issue with 'Expresstray.exe' which is the sub program that launches the icon in the system tray and if set, runs in the background.
v 5.3 works perfectly but v 5.5 does not start the tray icon.
I was quite clear what the problem was but they still gave me full instructions on Garmin Express itself which I told them twice was working perfectly.
This morning I had an email asking me to submit my support experience.
They ain't gonna like it.
Q1) Was your problem solved - NO
Q2) Rate the analyst - USELESS
and so on ..... _________________ DashCam:

I have discovered that in among the PoIs on the device is an item "overspeed". Never noticed this before. I assume thisvis PGPSW generated.
I set up a return to home route and there was now a Scouts tab with a car icon, a radar symbol and the number 5, bottom left of the screen next to the hamburger.
Pressing the tab brings up various options, two of which have a Bluetooth symbol. These include Temperature, Safer Camera Scouts, Direction, Time of Day and Elevation. You can toggle between the options, so the Scouts is phone app linked. I selected another option.
Looking at the app there is a Safety Cameras option. Selecting this changes to another screen with two tabs: List and Map, but both are blank. No doubt this is because all the native Garmon stuff is either removed or turned off.
Buying this device included lifetime maps and cameras so I may have found an "undocumented feature".
Ta for evetyone''s thoughts.

If it's a 2599 then you have something I haven't got on mine (and by the sound of it don't want).
As said, a few screenshots would be nice. _________________ DashCam:

There is very little information out there about the safety camera scout feature but I did find this in a NuLink 2390 owners manual:
About Safety Camera Scouts
A scout is a driver with the ability to report on the location of safety cameras, which helps to keep safety camera data up-to-date and accurate. The Scouts data field displays the number of scouts within a certain distance, and may include a star rating of the scout reports.
Viewing Scout Information
1. Select View Map.
2. Select any data field except Speed.
3. Select Scout Information.
That may help to explain what it is but doesn't explain why the OP is seeing it. _________________ Paul |

Ah, the Smartlink symbol. That's why I've not seen it, I use the TA cable for traffic. _________________ DashCam:

Here we go with report back as requested. Drove from Devon via Dorchester and Bournemouth to London, lots of mobile camera warnings, far fewer fixed installations except for Bournemouth, where there is an infestation of them! Some dual carriageway in the west.
The PGPSW database warns of mobile cameras, banner comes out with details. Sometimes (say 70%), some few seconds later, a second banner appears saying " xxx mph. Speed camera warning" and a female voice utters the immortal words "Caution. Slow down". It does not happen anywhere as often on single-track roads. Not dependent upon actual speed.
Kremmen asked me to check my installation. The vast bulk of my data is on the intenal storage, the remainder is on the external card. There is 1 x GPX file, one GPI file (yours) and a few other POIs that have remained unchanged for months (NT, etc). Model is nuvi 2599.
Will try to get some answers from Garmin.
All the best
