|
|
I have a few problem's I would like to sort out with my 2589 with your help....first I have updated to the latest map and it seem's to have some speed driving faults IE it tells me I am in a 30 mph zone when it is 60 mph.
2nd I have a back up of the previous map etc on my computer which worked fine so can I restore those,if so how please.
3rd can I get rid of the annoying beeps/chimes and the red speed zone warning allerts off the unit which appear everytime you enter such zones I don't need them as I will rely on the speed camera's I down loaded from here with the audio warnings.
If you can help with these I would appreciate it.
Thanks |

Best solution if the map speed limit is wrong is to report it as an error to Garmin.
Not sure which beeps/chimes you're getting. If they're from the pre-installed Garmin ones and you no longer intend to use them just delete the relevant .gpi files in the POI folder on your device. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Thanks for the reply's I will report the speed fault to Garmin and see if it get's sorted.
I deleted the UKIrelandCyclopsSample, gpi file from the Poi folder I hope it's the right one to remove the Speed warnings/chimes/bells which came with the unit.
You did not say how I can restore my old Map from a folder on the computer or can I not do it that way....should I just do a complete reset and try and start again as the Map I have is the faulty one on the speeds.
Cheers. |

Yes that's the right file. I wouldn't bother to go back to an older map just because you've found one speed limit wrong, all maps will have errors like that as no one can keep up with the changes that go on. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

If the speed limit was right but is now wrong, and the road hasn't changed, then could this need a master reset ?
Seems odd that Garmin or the map provider would just change it without firm evidence. _________________ DashCam:

Agreed, but if he's not wanting to use it it's worth getting rid of the file.
I'm not sure K that a master reset would help, as it's simply reading the data for that road and displaying it. @daxara perhaps you could let us know which road so we can check it out? _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

The Road I was on is the A1066 coming through South Lopham towards Bressingham.
When I left the 30 mph section back into the 60 mph section I was being warned it was 30 mph which is wrong this went on for about 1.5 miles before it reverted back to the right speed limit on the screen....hope this helps
Daxara
One good thing is if I drive to the 30 warning and not the 60 mph I won't get done for speeding hi... |

Strange, I've just run a simulation on my DriveSmart and using that, combined with looking at Google streetview, my device is reporting the speed limit correctly.
Despite my earlier reservations it may be worth trying a master reset. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Yes, same here.
I have a 2599 (near enough to yours) and the latest maps.
On my simulation, the Garmin switched from displaying a 30 limit icon to a 60 limit icon, about a third of the way between Redgrave Road (B1113) and Lopham Road (the next left).
You mention "warnings" for the 30 limit in the 60 area. Perhaps these were emitted by the Garmin Cyclops data (now removed) and so should not recur.

But are there, or has there been any cameras down that neck of the woods that the Cyclops is alerting for? Are we getting road speed limits mixed up with camera alert speeds I wonder? |
