|
|
Hi all, just tried to update the camera database and POIloader wont recognise the unit. I tried express it wont recognise either. when I plug the unit in to my laptop it comes on with the Garmin express logo like its connecting, I uninstalled and reinstall express-no joy, tried other cables and usb ports-no joy.
SO is the the laptop? I have gone into device manager and checked the usb drivers are upto date. Running windows 10.
when I disconnect the unit from the laptop, it stays on the express logo and I have to hold the power button in to turn the unit back on.
any help would be good, thanks |

Okay as that's a recent model you could try switching it from mtp to mass storage mode and see if that helps. Some Win10 setups don't like mtp mode.
To change to Mass Storage:
1. Bring up the volume screen on the GPS.
2. On the upper right hand corner. Press your finger on screen and hold for appx 10 seconds.
3. Shortly you will see the developers screen.
4. Find MTP Settings and touch it.
5. It will show 3 selections. MTP Auto Detect, Mass Storage and Mass Storage Single Session.
6. Touch Mass Storage as your selection.
7. Now select save and you are good to go. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Thanks sussamb - you've also managed to help me - even before I'd asked the question!
The same issue started happening to me this week on my DriveSmart 50, even though my Edge 200 was able to connect fine. I'd also worked out that it was something to do with my Windows 10 laptop, but changing the device from MTP to mass storage mode resolved the problem. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

I too have become a victim of this whilst trying to update my POIs. It seems recent Win 10 updates have broken something as auto detect has always worked previously.
Think this may be needed more often in the future and Win 10 peeps try to connect. Way to go Microsoft _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |

Win10 was rushed to market IMO and forced on many people.
I'm still Win7 and not intending to go Win10 until my next PC circa 2020. _________________ DashCam:
