I've got Mapsonic 1.3.2 with a 20MB map loaded in main memory and a few other maps loaded on a 512MB Viking SD card. One of the maps is the full UK map, and I've noticed that route planning is really, really, awfully slow with this map. It can also take about 5 mins just to search for a street name!

Does anyone else have this problem?

Cheers

I just changed from Mapsonic to Tomtom and the speed difference is increadible. Mapsonic suggest having 16Mb free to help with larger maps.

Make sure you are on the latest patch which had better large map support
www.viamichelin.com

Size of map on Tomtom is much smaller too.

Thanks

I was thinking of changing to TomTom anyway, but it would be nice if you could buy the software on its own without a GPS receiver. I think MapSonic's maps are based on really old or incomplete data as there are some streets that have been there since 1998 that aren't covered (including where I live now!!)

The tomtom PPC disk includes palm installer and the product code is valid for registration of the palm product.
