I thought the accepted opinion is that it's NEVER safe to do so. Pardon me, I'm just being Devil's advocate here. Training? How to train someone to not be inattentive whilst on the phone or radio? _________________ Dennis

... and operate the lights, appropriate siren, the display terminal, radio etc etc all whilst driving in accordance with Roadcraft (Police drivers handbook) and the IPSGA (information, position, speed, gear, acceleration) method of driving ... it's a wonder we manage to move at all _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way.

Anyway, back to us normal mortals. Going by all that's said, the less you have to physically interact with the phone on the move the better.
That's why I hate the TomTom app's habit of popping up a nag that a new map update is available, update? And it covers a good part of your route! If you're unlucky, your bouncing finger hits Yes instead of the x to close.
Yes, I know, it can be set to with wifi only, but my MiFi is often on in my vehicle (much better signal than the phone gets) and the phone sees that as beiing connected to wifi. _________________ Tim
