Sorry for delay replying, Kev..... been away.
It's quite easy to make your own car cursor from a photo of your own car, so long as you have some sort of "art" program on your computer (even the basic MS Paint will do).
First take a picture of your car from behind AND above (eg from a 1st floor window) That will end up looking best when on the TomTom screen.
Then import it into your art package and draw round the car itself with a solid red line (it needs to be perfect red, which is described in Red, Green,Blue values as 255,0,0). This ed will end up tansparent when it appears on the TomTom screen.
Make sure you turn off any "feathering" or "anti-aliasing" feature in the program to avoid getting any "near red" pixels which will not turn transparent.
Once you are happy with your outline, you need to use whatever tools your particular program has to fill the rest of the image outside of the car with solid red as well.
Once you've done that, crop the picture to a perfect square shape and then reduce it in size to 80x80 pixels.
(You may think it would be easier to reduce the size first and THEN do the red outlining, but trust me, it works better my way!).
Save the new image as a .bmp file, copy it into the art/cars folder on the TomTom and you should be good to go. You select it in the settings menu "change car cursor".
If you have any problems, give us a shout back here and I'll see what I can do to help. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Hello. Sorry for delay... Try this?
(Either left click and save, or right click and use "Save Link as..." not "Save image as..." - You need to end up with the .bmp file not the .jpg) _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Some nice car pictures there, but I think they may be better suited for start-up and shut-down background images.
To look "right" on the screen, a car cursor needs to be a straight on view of the back of the car (preferably from slightly above) and as this is one of the least elegant views of a car it doesn't often get used in publicity material.
That's why we often suggest people take their own picture of their own car from a 1st floor window. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
