At last, TomTom have come up with the goods for custom POI's, along with several other extras.

That is great news, Many thanks marksfish for bringing this news to our attention.
Bizarrely, TT mention it as an almost throw away feature being the last *New Feature* they mention on that page.
To me, that's just proof that they don't know their market.
They should be shouting it from the roof tops and be dedicating a whole page to that one item.
Hallelujah indeed. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

From what I have seen on the forum so far, it isn't a return to the good old days just yet, and navigation from a different menu. There is no customisable support for POI's, so it looks like no sounds and no own icons , although they may yet come at a later date. Not sure how easy it will be to add new items to the POI category, but it is enough to make me consider updating my unit now, especially as John Lewis are offering 2 year warranty, cheaper than most other high street retailers!!

I can confirm, no warnings when near exist.
You can navigate to a POI as a destination from a list of ones near you or a search. Thats it.
It is only a way of integrating existing known about places into the search.
The new MyDrive looks good. You simply provide it a OV2 file through the webpage, and it sends the POIs to your device. You can plan a route from thee PC, and send to your PND.

Hi Phil, thanks for that. Is it relatively easy to add a new location to your existing POI file, or does that have to be done remotely too?
Thanks _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |
