|
|
The most lucrative speed camera in the country has been identified. It is situated on Newport Road, Cardiff.
It captures an average of 71 speeding drivers a day and has accumulated £800,000 revenue in only six months.
Over 13,000 drivers were caught by the camera - a camera that does not have warnings signs on approach.
A Cardiff council spokesman said: "The speed camera in question does not have advance signs in place alerting drivers, as this is not a legal requirement."
The Institute of Advanced Motorists, argued: "If a camera is issuing a small number of fines, or none at all, it's doing its job. If it's ticketing that many people, it's not having that effect."

could it be the reason that there are no camera warning signs is that they cost money to erect and reduce revenue from the camera which they get to keep if driver opts for a speed awareness course |

Looks like that is REDSPEED:94489@30. Interesting that the woman quoted was caught doing 34 mph. That is below the conventional speed limit + 10% + 2. |

AS they are ignoring the recommendation of advanced signs as not being a legal requirement, they are obviously also ignoring the recommendation of 10% +2MPH. And why shouldn't they as the obviously just want to make money from this cam. |

Well, we all know a nice man who didn't go along with those silly guidelines. I mistakenly thought he had taken over at the Welsh Assembly, but this time it wasn't him, just his influence. _________________ Dennis
