On the positive side I'm retiring in 8 weeks so the traffic element will not be that important. I do have RDS TMC built in to the car anyway which at the moment is far more accurate. Just that it only update every 15 minutes.
I just don't want a cable across the dash.
I'm going to start using CamerAlert. May be able to dispense with the Garmin if they don't sort it. _________________ DashCam:

My 2599 seems OK with the built in cable for traffic. I use Smartlink to get the weather at my destination

Cable's working fine, it's the smartlink that folks are (now) having problems with. |

Here is the issue in the worst of cases. The first show shows the M25 via Inrix at 15:55 on a Friday evening. As you would expect there are loads of red areas and some really dark red areas where it's a complete standstill.
The second shot shows Smartlink and all that can pick up is a few roadworks that are actually overnight works so not valid at 16:00
Ignore the orange road colour on Smartlink, that is it's standard Motorway colour.
Nothing more I can do but wait and see. _________________ DashCam:

Something very weird then, hope you get to the bottom of it.
Since Inrix provides the data for Garmin, and the cabled traffic is working fine, The issue must be somewhere in the loop Inrix ... Garmin ... Smartlink ... Nuvi although maybe Inrix sends data directly to Smartlink so Inrix ... Smartlink ... Nuvi |

The more I look at it I don't think Smartlink to Nuvi has an issue.
Smartlink is being fed a load of rubbish at the moment, most of it historic. This is resulting in whole stretches of road being reported as one long construction zone.
I counted the number of local 'Incidents' being reported yesterday via the Nuvi traffic under 'app' and it was just over 200. When I connected the TA20 a week ago, that only had one or 2 pages of local incidents which was more realistic. Just got to bear in mind that the TA20 is only TMC RDS coverage. _________________ DashCam:

Digital traffic comes via a DAB receiver, analogue via RDS. |

After my reset master reset I too still seem to be getting only old roadworks using the 3D Live Traffic via Smartphone Link.
At least the GTM36 cable that came with my 2595 is not showing old data and seems to be providing more up to date information once it gets a signal. _________________ Garmin 2569LMT-D s/w 8.80 + Western Europe map 2019.10

This must be affecting others as well ?
June 6th was the 4.40 firmware update - coincidence ?
Shame Garmin don't include Nuvi's on their forum - probably don't have the server space _________________ DashCam:

It's not that, I've been trying to get 'On the road' forums there for about a year, together with the other mods, but Garmin Admin won't create them as they don't have staff to monitor them |

I went into my phone settings this morning and used the 'clear data' function for Smartlink. As well as basic settings it also cleared out all my out of date traffic.
Be interesting to see if it gets reloaded later.
Must try and find out when Smartlink v1.7 was released as I'm having difficulty trying to determine the root cause:
Firmware 4.40
Smartlink 1.7
GTM update
As they all came in about the time the issue occurred.
If Garmin haven't got the staff to monitor a forum thread then must know how busy it would be _________________ DashCam:

I do find INRIX to be somewhat inaccurate, and agree that, for example, temporary lights at a junction while a minor repair is under way can be taken to mean three roads are all but out of action.
One of the problems is that when sending in info about an incident, it seems to use the the location of the phone. It is very difficult to say, stop in a nearby lay-by, and report the exact location of the incident.
INRIX is best used by passengers in a car, if there are any. |

I've often wondered how the Inrix report/confirm/dismiss an incident works unless you have a passenger.
However, for me, Inrix does seem to be fairly accurate. More than I can say for Smartlink now, it's just a waste of space. _________________ DashCam:

I think the only way you know is when the ETA changes, meaning some delay has now gone. Can't recall ever seeing an alert saying 'Accident now cleared' or something similar. |

I find the opposite. Garmin's digital traffic from Inrix has in over a years worth of use been 100% accurate, at least where I drive. |
