I'm hoping this will resolve the problem as mine is getting worse each day and Garmin are absolutely rubbish with their support.
They replied initially regarding the query but haven't done anything since i emailed them back.
I must say when had TomTom and had issues at least they replied.
If this doesn't resolve the issue may end up asking for an RMA for full refund and get something different. |

I've been using the support link on their website
Also sometimes when they do reply they haven't actually read the email and give you non related advice. |

had real bad grey screen today. Always seems worse in bad weather & today was heavy rain & loads of road traffic problems. Was on the M25, garmin wanted me to take the exit but I continued on. From there it tried to recalculate the route and the screen turned to grey, very slowly redrawing the map. For the rest of the journey garmin suffered major grey screen issues and never fully recovered.
At least I now know how to add favourites (but not how to delete them) |

Almost the same way ... Where to, favourites, select favourite, hit i, 3 bar icon, delete. Note also works if you select a favourite from History.
Would be interested to hear if this update does fix the gray screen issue |

Sussamb, I'd really like to thank you for sticking with this topic. I'm moreorless ready to jump ship from Tomtom. Just nervous about leaving something I know so well, and becoming a newbie again!! But once my Traffic sub runs out, that has to be it. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

Know how you feel.
My first satnav was a mio navman, didn't like my first Garmin when I got it but it soon grew on me once I got used to the different way it operated |

Garmin work so differently from TT. I just wish TT would allow custom POIs on their newer high end devices, then I would have stayed with TT. TT routing and navigation directions are so much better.
I bet we still have to put up with macdonalds, knives, forks & other crap littering up the map display.
Right, have run garmin express, which decided it needed to update, have updated the firmware, it the wanted to update again for two other file (despite selecting update all). Have just turned it on after update, one gets a reminder to visit garmin express for map updates (what have I just done?) then wants to restart the device to install the updates.
There are still no route preferences to avoid town centres or narrow lanes, so guess trips to the west country will continue to be interesting. |

Selecting 'fastest route' should avoid them but as we've seen Cornwall seems different |

bang goes that theory then
Have you considered returning it and asking for an exchange to see if it's an issue with your device? |

I'm looking at that - I've emailed Garmin again but if that don't work will see what Halfords say as I've had it since January (coming up to 4 months) - I've also got the camera subscription on it as well
If it weren't for these grey blocks on the screens all the time, the device would be brilliant as it is only that, that is letting it down |

Guivre , I'm like you in that I'm debating if to jump ship from tomtom to Garmin ,
the new Garmin looks good and I was impressed with the one I played with in Halfords , but after reading this topic I'm not sure, then there's the issue of traffic as I use this feature everyday ,is it as good as tomtom live . |
