|

If my trip is planned, I have taken the extreme measure of testing the calculation before I have to use it in anger.
This sad state of affairs came about after a tour of sites in Derbyshire for work when TomTom insisted I use The Manifold Trail to get there! Try as I might to get it to use roads for my car to drive on, the only way I could get it to, was to put my destination as the middle of the road next to where I wanted to be.
I have now taken to using the itinerary function by writing text files with way points in them to ensure I travel along a logical route. |

I've just looked up the "Manifold Trail" on Google and it appeas to be a cycling or walking trail?
If it has no vehicle access, have you logged it as a map error? (
Assuming you have an older "NAV2" or "NAV3" model of TomTom, you can do that on the unit itself, and it should then refuse to use the trail for routing.
Next time you connect the TomTom to the "Home" or "MyDrive" software on the PC, it should up load that correction for the map team at TomTom.
If you have one of the latest models, that may not be working yet (I'm not sure), in which case you can make the correction on the TomTom website. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

If you set your destination as being on a inaccessible road, it will try to get you to drive along it (think private access road) if that is the nearest road to your destination.
As you say, when you ask it to direct you to a driveable position on a nearby road, it works fine. My work file has many secondary points for where I have to drive to / park - especially when the actual shop is in a shopping centre etc.
