TomTom has a very special (some say ignorant) way how to record street addresses. Your Outlook contacts may not be in the "right" (according to TomTom) format.

Make a test - go to one of the locations and see how TomTom writes the street name and house number. Then store this as a contact. Then try to navigate to it.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I dont quite get what you mean by go to one of the locations and see how tomtom records it ?
I have no contacts at the minute, just trying to add some, simply because all my favorites are full.
One example is:

Chadwick St
Glossop
derbyshire
Sk13 8ef

Thats is a customer location, if I enter the postcode manually, or use ukpostcode, its fine, but if I try and go there from my contacts, it tries to send me to:

St Cuthberts square
GlosterHill
Northumberland
TD15 2

Laughing Out Loud thats like MILES in the opposite direction !
I tried it with my home address (which I wont post for obvious reasons) and it tries to send me about 300 miles away !!

Thanks

The way that TTN uses outlook for addresses is useless, to say the least. TTN reads from Outlook in a very specific way, which is usually different to the default way you input addresses into Outlook.

I found that in nearly all cases, I had to amend addresses in Outlook so TTN could read them correctly. Not what you want to do when you need a quick look up.

For me, I would forget trying to use Outlook and TTN3 for addresses.

Hi,

thanks for the reply, the problem is, I really need access to addresses, and unfortunately 20 favorites isnt enough, I suppose I could manually look at the contact and do it that way but thats a bit of a pain, any other way to do it? any way to increase number of favorites?

Thanks

you can use a different program - most of the others are way more relaxed than TomTom when it comes to address formats.

eggplant

These are the other options:

- create a separate POI file with all of your contact addresses
- type in the postcode from your contacts into Niel Thomsen's excellent UKPostcode program

This is how I create POI for addresses I use. First, use Niel's superb UK Post code program to into the post code. In that program use "show on map" which will start TTN3 in map mode. On the TTN map screen press and hold on the curser point and this will bring up a list of options. Click on "Add as point of Interest", this will bring up another screen where you can add to an existing POI group, or create another POI group, I call mine "Work Contacts"

Thats it, done. You can now navigate to your specific POI.

Hi,

many thanks for the reply, I'm almost there! The only thing I'm struggling with now, is when I get to the part where I can add it, thats fine, but I can only add it to and existing group, I dont see the option to create a new group? Am I just being thick ??

Thanks again

Tap on the drop down box in "type", then scroll to the top for <new type>, type in name of your choice.
