|
|
Hi, just wondered if anyone had played with Tasker, to automate their phone to launch CamerAlert & GPS when it pairs with your cars bluetooth. and then kill CamerAlert and GPS when you leave car (lose bluetooth connection).
I reckon if i can get this working it will save me tons of battery life... |

Yes, a few people have.
In the advanced settings we have options to use Car Mode and Car Dock Mode.
As an example you can turn Car Dock Mode on and tell tasker that once you connect to bluetooth in the car that it should turn on Car Dock Mode - this will fire up CamerAlert automatically and close it when car dock mode is disabled (again, handled via tasker)

I bought Tasker to do just that because CA kills the battery in my Nexus 7 when I forget to stop CA, but it looks a little more complicated than I anticipated _________________ Galaxy Note 4 / TomTom GO : CamerAlert : CoPilot |

I think your aim is a bit different to mine MaFt, i want it to be fully automatic, ie not even get my phone out of my pocket...i dont want to have to set modes or toggle something manually..
Anyway i sorted it this evening in my lunchbreak ;)
Profile:- State : Net : Bluetooth Connected : New Task : App : Load App : CamerAlert : Add Task : Media : Music Play : MeepMeep.mp3 ;)
Profile:- State : Net : Not Bluetooth Connected (inverted): New task : App : Kill App (with root) : CamerAlert : Add Task : Media : Music Play : Disconnected.mp3
Pretty straightforward really, gonna see if i can get the "connected (meepmeep)" and "disconnected" sounds to play through speakers instead of phone tommorow, bit tired atm ;) |

Btw i forgot to mention that i havent declared a specific pairing, so theoretically it would turn on cameralert if it paired up with any other device i might have it set for, but as i havent paired it with anything else.... |

You would only have to set the car mode or car dock mode once. After that when you connect to bluetooth in the car then tasker would kick in and fire up car dock mode which, in turn, would trigger CamerAlert to launch.
The benefit being that if you have other apps that auto-run using car dock mode then you only have a single command - to turn on car dock mode.
Or if you actually have a car dock that can trigger car dock mode then you wouldn't even need tasker.
